"Welcome back to the mole." Lakitu recapped what happened last time. "The competitors met for the first time, and managed to earn 75,000 coins to the pot in the first challenge! What will happen this time? Find out on the mole!"
The next morning, the group had a fine breakfast, before they were sequestered to their next test.
"Welcome to your second test." Lakitu said. "For this test I will need you guys to memorize the information on these 10 TV screens. Each TV screen will contain information on each contestant like their shoe size, age, birth place, number of siblings, etc. that's all I will tell you for now. You have 15 minutes, starting... now."
The ten TV screens suddenly flashed on. The competitors stared at the TV screens, trying to memorize as much information as they could.
Fifteen minutes later, Lakitu pressed the red button on his remote and the TV Screens turned off. "Time" he said. "Now, everyone please follow me."
The contestants were brought into a sunny room, where they all sat at a table.
"Now, I need you to choose the two people who you think have the best memory on the other contestants. You don't have much time, so choose quickly"
The group started talking.
"I have a good memory. I'll do it if nobody else wants to." Toad announced.
"And, uh... yeah, I can remember about 90 percent of that stuff." Rosalina told the group.
After a few more minutes of talking, the group nominated Toad and Rosalina."Alright, Toad and Rosalina, please follow me. Everyone else, stay here. You may talk freely, but do NOT discuss anything you saw on the monitors."
The group banged on the table as Lakitu lead Toad and Rosalina to the challenge area. It was a small room, where there was a small table. Toad and Rosalina sat down."Welcome. On this screen, there are ten equations, one about each competitor in the game. Use your memory and math skills to try and solve these problems. When you have the ten final numbers, add them all up to one big sum. Then you will leave this area and go outside to use this GPS and find a certain bank. When you do, enter the account name and password I give you, and enter the sum you have. You have two tries. If you get the sum correct and true in in within 2 hours, the group will win 50,000 coins. Understand?"
Toad and Rosalina nodded.
"Your time starts now." Lakitu said.
Problems:
1. The number of letters in Mario's Birthplace - The Number of letters in His name. (15-5=10)
2. The number of siblings Luigi has + The number of letters in his shoe size. (1+6=7)
3. The number of letters in Wario's main color X A quarter of his age. (6X10=60)
4. The number of letters in Waluigi's Name + The number of letters in his main color. (7+6=13)
So on...After about forty minutes of calculating and checking, Rosalina and Toad finally came up with the sum of 240.
"We need to go soon." Toad told Rosalina.
"I'll stay back and recalculate it, because I don't want our sum to be wrong."
"Ok" Toad said. He went outside and got on his bike, and off he went.On Toad's way, he took multiple breaks because he was losing his breath. "Are you there yet?!" Rosalina told Toad over the Walkie-Talkie, she seemed worried.
Lakitu checked his watch. "One hour left."
Toad looked at his GPS once more and had no idea what to do. He tried going multiple ways, and in the end it started working again and he was off.
Forty Five minutes later, Lakitu announced there was 15 minutes left. Toad got worried until he saw a banner with a dollar sign about 30 yards away. He biked with all his might and realized- this was the bank Lakitu told him about!
"Okay Rosalina, I'm here."
"Good. Now-"
"NO! THERE'S A LINE TO USE THE ATM!!"
"Oh no" Rosalina thought the group would lose, and she didn't want people thinking she was the mole.
"1 minute left." Lakitu announced."Okay, I'm here!" Toad told Rosalina. "What's the passcode again?"
"240. Enter it VERY carefully." Rosalina spoke clearly."Thirty seconds."
2...4...0... Toad slowly typed into the keypad.
PASSWORD DENIED.
"Oh no!" Toad exclaimed. "It's wrong!""I have a different answer. I recalculated while you were getting there." Rosalina wasn't giving up.
"What is it?"
"It's 239."
2...3...9... Toad slowly typed into the keypad and crossed his fingers, as she machine was processing.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6..." Lakitu counted down.
"5, 4, 3,"
PASSWORD ACCEPTED.
"Yes!" Toad exclaimed!
"Did we get it?" Rosalina asked.
"We sure did! Fifty thousand coins!""YES! Haha!!!" Rosalina jumped for joy.
After Toad was brought back, Lakitu congratulated Toad and Rosalina.
"Congratulations, you guys have just earned 50,000 coins. The pot now stands at 125,000 coins! And... you guys only had 2 seconds left! Good job!"
Toad and Rosalina high fived, excited to share the news with the group.
When Toad and Rosalina were brought back to the table, they shared their good fortune with the group.
"Well?" Bowser asked. The group wanted to know how they did.
"We just got 50,000!" Toad exclaimed. The group cheered.
"Congrats guys." Lakitu said. "However, one of our cameras did catch Daisy talking about the monitors. We specifically said not to, so we have to give the group a penalty." Lakitu explained as he showed the footage to the group.
Daisy sighed. The group wasn't mad at her, though. They realized it was a mistake, even though 10,000 Coins was subtracted from the pot.
"Time to go back to the hotel." Lakitu said to the group. They got out their journals, and at the hotel, only a few of them wrote about their suspicions.
"What will happen next time? Join us on, The Mole."
