Episode 7-3

"You guys have one more chance with Luigi to get 50,000 coins." Lakitu said.

"BUT-

The competitors were listening.

"If you don't think you're good at this, as part of the final test you have a choice. You can either try to get 50,000 with Luigi, or switch to one more test for 40,000. Since this one is harder, you guys have a choice to make."

Without hesitation all 3 immediately agreed to take the different test.

"Follow me" Lakitu led the group back to the hotel.

READERS: the following is Lakitu talking to you. The contestants do not hear this.

Hey guys it's Lakitu! Today I'm going to explain this final test.
Each of the three competitors will be locked into a hotel room. The goal of the game is to have all 3 people in the lobby with me in under 5 Minutes 30 Seconds.
That's all the competitors will know. Nothing else. They will have to figure the rest out. Now here's what's going to happen:

This is Luigi's room. He will be locked in a room with a key on his bed. This Key can only open the doors to Peach and Toad's Room. His door is a special passworded one that will only open if the correct password is entered, which is very important info...

This is Peach's Room. Her room will be pitch black. No light whatsoever. But we've lit it up for you to see.
All in here is a few signs saying random things. But one of the signs is something very important...

This is Toad's Room. His room will have 15 buttons on the wall, and that's it. One of these buttons are very important...

SOLUTION: Here's what Peach, Luigi and Toad have to do to win:
One of the buttons in Toad's Room is the light to Peach's Room. When toad presses the button, the light will turn on in Peach's Room, allowing her to read the signs. The sign that asks about the buttons in someone else's room is special, because the answer to that is the password to Luigi's door, allowing him to free Toad and Peach with his key.

One more thing. The three won't be together, so they can't hear each other. They will have to connect through room service, which is tough because they don't know each other's room numbers. All they know is that they are all 100-110.

"Ready, set, GO" Lakitu exclaimed as the three rushed into their rooms, the doors being locked behind them with a "BEEEEP!" noise.

Luigi ran to the telephone and called for room service. "Room 100 please." Luigi started guessing.
No one picked up. "Darn."
"Room 101?"

No answer.

"103 please!"
"Hello?" Said a grouchy voice. "Nope," Luigi said as he hung up and called back for room service.
"104!"

The attendant was getting quite annoyed.
"Who's this?" A familiar voice came up. It was Peach!
"Luigi!" The two did a small cheer and tried different numbers until Luigi found Toad in 106.
"It's so dark in here!" Peach said.

The three were all connected and put each other on speaker.
Toad immediately started fumbling around the buttons until he heard "STOP RIGHT THERE!" from Peach. Her light turned on and she started reading all of the signs.

"Yeah yeah blah blah, How many buttons are in someone else's room?"
"15! There are 15!" Toad exclaimed, excited that progress was being made.

"Hold on-" Luigi punched in ONE-FIVE and his door opened! Peach and Toad both heard the "BEEEEP!"

"Well done Luigi!" Peach exclaimed as herself and Toad hung up, waiting for Luigi to come rescue them.
Luigi grabbed the key card and dashed out of his room to the lobby. He saw Lakitu.

"Where's everyone else?" Lakitu asked.
Luigi slapped himself and dashed back upstairs. Opening Toad and Peach's doors, he nudged them quickly to run down stairs.
"What took you so long?!" Toad asked.

"Uhhh... nothing." Luigi shrugged. Peach and Toad stared at him in suspicion.

All three were in the lobby.
"Congrats, you finished. But the question is: how long did you do it in?"
All three leaned in to listen in suspense.

"You guys successfully completed the challenge in 4 Minutes 54 seconds! You win!" Lakitu shouted.

"WOOHOOOOOO!" Everyone screamed.

"Meaning that the final group pot stands at 470,000 coins." Lakitu started.
