Nao and Sasuke got up early the next morning. Sasuke had to meet up with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi so with nothing to do since she didn't work that day, Nao decided to tag along.

"It is fairly early Sasuke; will he be here on time?" Nao asked curiously as she folded her hands behind her back.

Sasuke looked back at her with a small smirk and shook his head.

"He's never on time. He never has been for as long as he's been our sensei, Nao..."

Nao hummed and looked up at the sky. She stopped when she saw a cloud in the shape of a heart. She smiled softly and went to ask Sasuke to look at the clouds when she found he was nowhere in sight. Nao looked down the street and didn't see him so instead she looked back up with a sigh. The heart was now broken in two pieces. Nao turned sad and started walking again only to hit something and fall. Before she hit the ground something started pushing her back up.

Nao opened her tightly closed eyes to find Gaara's face right in front of her. She blushed and looked at him curiously. She looked at the sand as it slowly disappeared back into his gourd then back at his eyes. The sand caught her before she could fall. Gaara glared at Nao making her shift on her feet. She knew something wasn't right, but she smiled anyway at him.

"How is it you are always here when I need someone?"

Gaara blinked at her question. He narrowed his eyes slightly and turned to the side. He hummed and shrugged his shoulders. Nao giggled slightly then looked around.

"He went that way," Gaara stated and pointed down an adjacent street.

Nao looked at him in surprise then smiled. She nodded and thanked him then disappeared down the street. Gaara watched as she left. He still didn't understand what that feeling was. He cut off all feeling other than the happiness he got from killing, but that is what he felt. He felt happy like when he was killing someone, except it only happened when he was around her. It was a different kind of happiness too. If he had to say, felt about the same as the feeling he got from killing.

"She's different..." a dark voice rasped in his mind, but he just dismissed it. Gaara still didn't understand it well enough to try to solve the strange feeling and where it came from or why his sand didn't push her away. All he knew was that the pain in his heart was starting to diminish slowly with every encounter. Gaara looked up at the sky and remembered Nao's face turn sad. He frowned finding the broken heart in the clouds. He just closed his eyes with a sigh and walked away.

Nao sighed as she sat down beside Sasuke. They had been waiting for Kakashi for a while now. Nao had thought Sasuke had been exaggerating at least a little bit, but sure enough he hadn't. Sasuke kept his place right beside her as they watched Sakura and Naruto bicker. He stood quietly looking around as Nao traced figures in the dirt on the ground.

It was only when Sakura and Naruto started yelling that she actually decided to look up finding Kakashi standing in front of them.

"Where have you been?" Nao asked with narrowed eyes.

Kakashi scratched the back of his head and smiled sheepishly. It was under his mask of course but you could still tell. He tried to say something, but she cut him off saying, "No excuses mister! You know that is mean right?"

Kakashi just sighed and turned to Sakura and Naruto, Sasuke not even bothering to move from his spot on the wall until a paper was held out to him by Kakashi.

"I know it is a bit late, but I entered you three into the chuunin exams!" He said with that same close eyed smile he always wore.

Nao smiled at Sasuke as he smirked at the form in his hand.
