We were chilling in the Jacuzzi, a bottle of beer in Kevin's hand and a Coke in mine. We were chatting about the day and the prospects of the next day. It became a ritual to chill together at the end of the day as we watched the sun set. He was like a father to me, replacing my biological one with ease.

Suddenly, we were disturbed by a knock on the door.

With the beach house being separated from everyone, we weren't expecting anybody. Kevin leapt into action and opened the front door cautiously. I remained in the hot tub, eves dropping into the conversation between the two men.

"How have you been Kevin?" His husky voice made me shiver.

"Good, Sir." It brought a smile to my face when I thought about the simple sentences Kevin had given me at the start of the month, just a couple of weeks ago.

"Where is my match?" He asked, clearly disinterested in small talk.

"Outside, but she doesn't want to talk to you." I smiled.

Kevin and I had bonded during our training time and outside of it. We always had deep conversations in the evening and sometimes in the early hours of the morning. Therefore, he was well aware of my dislike towards the man of my apparent future.

"You say that like I'm supposed to care." His tone was nonchalant but I detected an undertone of anger and... worry? His heavy footsteps thudded towards me at a steady pace; I could imagine his even strides and the utter discontent on his face.

Once he appeared, my mouth went dry and my stomach swarmed with butterflies. He looked good. Well, good was the understatement of the century. Lucas clearly hadn't shaved since we last talked; I could see a little bit of scruff collecting on his sharp jawline. His leather jacket screamed pure masculinity and I felt myself drawn to him in an inexplicable way. He looked every bit a man and I hated that I loved it. He shrugged off his jacket and slung it over the back of the chair, revealing his black button up that clung to every contour of his upper body. His arms bulged in all the right places and I found myself nearly salivating at the sight. It wasn't too much, like a body builder but he certainly wasn't lacking in the muscle department either.

He rested his elbows on the side of the Jacuzzi and leaned towards me slightly. The action caused his muscles to flex - my eyes scrutinising the action thoroughly. His steely grey eyes pierced into my soul and I felt enchanted under his gaze, as if I couldn't look away at all. His lips slid into a sly smirk and his husky voice sent goosebumps dancing along my visible skin.

"Hello, Sweetheart."

I sent a glare his way, I saw the amusement swim in his eyes and I had never wanted to slap someone as much as I did right then. He knew what he did to me, what effect he had over me and he revelled in it.

"Hello, dick." His smile faltered but he managed to keep smirking.

"That's not very nice," he leaned even closer until his breath tickled my ear. "Darling."

I turned to face him, unaware of the limited distance between us. He was so close I could smell his cologne. It clouded my senses with its musky fruity smell. He was so close that I could see the separate flecks of icy blue in his silver eyes, so close that I could see the light dusting of freckles along the bridge of his nose and the slight indent of his singular dimple that only appeared when he talked or smiled.

He was so close that one wrong move and we'd be kissing.

"I guess I'm not very nice then." I pulled back and smiled innocently at him.

He sighed and disappeared back into the house. I heard his feet going up the stairs and I heard him kick Kevin out. A short period of time passed until he appeared in front of me again. He was only dressed in swim shorts and a bottle of champagne swung loosely in his hand. He approached the Jacuzzi, jumped in and then sat directly opposite me. Leaning back into his corner, his arms relaxed along the sides and his gaze was fixed on me. Under his scrutiny, I felt bare, like all my insecurities were on show with large neon arrows pointing to them.

His posture was relaxed, as if we weren't strangers, as if we had been companions for longer than the three days we were in each other's company. He smirked, laying his legs along the row of seats next to me. His toes would casually brush against my hip, unfortunately reminding me of his presence.

"So how are you, sweetheart?"

"I was fine but then you showed up." I glared at his head.

"Ouch. That's not very nice." He pretended to be offended by my cold tone and attitude.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I not make it clear that you weren't welcome and that I despise you?" I was being bitter but at my current state of bitchiness, I didn't care.

"Oh sweetheart, you made it crystal clear. I just don't care." He smirked and winked at me. The grip around my Coke tightened with the resistance I was using in order to not deck the jerk in the perfectly handsome face of his.

My hormones were going crazy.

Finishing my beverage off, I chucked the bottle in the bin and stood up. The hair on my body rose when it was exposed to the freezing air.

I felt his eyes roam my bikini-clad body.

"Are your finished staring at me like a creep?" I asked, grabbing my towel to dry me off. I stepped out of the Jacuzzi and slipped on my robe.

"I'm just appreciating the view."

I glared at his massive head over my shoulder and walked into the house, yelling over my shoulder, "Pig!"

"You love it!"

The door slammed behind me and I quickly headed up to the room I was staying in, the thought of a quick shower at the forefront of my mind.
