Today was finally SATURDAY! And I don't have class today, but I got to go to work. I got ready for work and went downstairs. Everyone was getting breakfast before leaving. I just make some toasts and a coffee and wrap it to eat it on the car.
"BYE EVERYONE!" I shouted walking towards the door. Everyone replied with a "Bye".
"Honey, don't forget we're going to start painting this afternoon." My mom inform me.
"Yes mom, I know." I said, and with that I started my car and drove to work.
"Morning Jessy. Martha." I greeted them.
"Good morning." The both of them replied at the same time.
From 8:00 am to 11:00 am the bakery was packed with clients and you could see the orders flying. But after the breakfast rush, we started to organize the tables and the pastries for the rest of the day.
I heard the bakery doorbell and looked up to see who entered, and I recognized her.
"Hey, good morning Kate. You're just in time." Jessy said from behind the counter to her. "Layla, come here please." Jessy said to me and I stop cleaning the tables and walked up to her.
"Well Layla, you remember the girl that was interested to work as a waiter here, right?" she asked me and I nodded. That's why she was so familiar to me. "Good. Today is her first day working here, and since you helped her get the job, I thought it would be a good idea if you give her the training." Jessy informed me.
I nodded smiling. "Yeah, of course." I said to her.
"Well, perfect I leave you two, so you can start now that we don't have too many clients." And with that Jessy started walking towards her office on the back.
"Hey Kate." I said to her.
"Hi, thanks again for helping me." She replied to me.
I smiled at her. "You welcome. Now let's get started. First thing, don't freak out, the equipment we use here is user friendly, it's just about practice." I said reassuringly and she nodded laughing.
"Ok, so let's start with the showcase of pastries." I said to her, pointing to the pastries area. I explained to her when she should take some more fresh pastries from the kitchen, how to place them so they have a good presentation for the clients to see, and everything else.
"Ok, let's move to the coffee machine." I said to her as we walked to where it was placed the machine. I showed her where to turn it on and off, how to make a coffee or any other hot beverage and how to clean it at the end of the day. "Did you get it?" I said and she nodded. "Do you have any questions? Feel free to ask me." I said to her.
"Thanks, but for now, I'm getting it." She said smiling.
"Ok, so let's move to the last and a little more complicated part. The cash register!" I said joking with her. She laughed, nodded and follow me towards the cash register. I explained everything to her.
"So, always remember that every time you use the cash register, the first thing you have to do is enter your employee ID number. Or else the cash register will not make the transaction, ok?" I asked her and she nodded. "Well, congrats, you're officially ready to work!" I told her with a smile and she laughed.
Just then a client entered the bakery.
"Good, I'll leave you that client to you. If you have any question, you call me. I'll be right here watching how you rock this place." I said winking at her and she laughed.
"Ok." She said to me, before turning to the client and greeting him.
She took the order, and went to the coffee machine. When I saw she was struggling a little, I walked up to her and helped her. Then she went to the pastries showcase and grab what the client order and put it on a box perfectly. After she was done, she handed the order to the customer and dismissed him politely. I clapped my hands at her, making she looked at me and laugh.
