We were in the kitchen making breakfast before going to our respective destinations for the day. Mom took her mug of coffee and called Sofi to take her to school.
"By sweethearts." Mom said to Mauro and me and gave us a kiss. "Mauro, remember to buy the wine for tonight!" My mom said before walking out of the house with Sofi.
"Well, I better get going to work too." My Dad informed us, placing the newspaper on the table and standing up giving us both a kiss before walking out too, leaving Mauro and me alone in the kitchen.
"So, what do you want to eat?" Mauro asked me standing in front of the stove and looking at me.
"Pancakes and scrambled eggs! Are you in?" I asked him.
"That sounds great! I'll make the scrambled eggs and you the pancakes?" he suggested and I nodded standing up from the stool and walking to the fridge to get the ingredients.
"So finally the day has come!" I said teasing him while we make breakfast.
"What are you talking about Layla?" he asked me a little confused. I look at him and crossed my arms on my chest.
"You waited two weeks to invite Monica here! I thought you were getting second thoughts of bringing her to meet Mom and Dad!" I told him and he chuckled. "Oh my! You did!" I said laughing and he blushed.
"It's just that, I have never bring a girlfriend to my house to meet my parents in a proper way, to say it like that, ok?!" he said defending himself.
"Are you trying to say that you are nervous?" I asked him smirking and he blushed even more.
"NOO! I'm not saying that!" he lied.
"Mauro, I know you. You are blushing!" I told him laughing. He rolled his eyes at me, not looking at me and cooking. "She's really special right?" I asked him. "I mean, if you are this anxious, because you're afraid that something's going to go wrong, that means that she's really important to you." I told him now in a more serious tone. He sigh, stop cooking and look at me.
"Yes." He said in almost a mumble, but loud enough for me to hear. "She's different from all the girls I've met before. And I'm really falling for her. But what if Mom and Dad don't see that?" he asked me a little worried.
"You mean, what if they don't like her?" I asked him and he nodded slightly. I smile at how cute he look. He was really interested in this girl! I walked up to him and place my hand on his shoulder reassuringly. He looked at me and I gave him a warm smile.
"Don't worry so much Mauro. Mom and Dad are going to love her! Just try to relax a little and have fun on this special day you are going to spend with her!" I said reassuringly to him and he smile nodding.
"This is unbelievable! Little Lay giving me a love advice! When did you grew up so fast little sis?!" he asked me playfully and shuffled my hair. I laughed.
"Hey, that's why we are here for right?" I asked him smiling.
"Right." He replied smiling back at me. "Now make those pancakes that I'm hungry woman!" he said playfully and I laughed and obeyed.
We had breakfast while seating on the floor of the living room watching cartoons, like when we were kids.
"Look at us! Watching cartoons even when Sofi's not home!" I said laughing and Mauro laughed too.
"This is the type of thing that you're not going to talk about tonight with Monica!" he said playfully and we laughed.
"Yeah right!" I replied to him. "Well I'm going to work! Don't forget to buy the wine, or Mom is going to kill you!" I said as I shuffle his hair and walked to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
