Chapter 8: Old Faces

Naruto, Anko, and Kakashi were talking about the years that had past and what they hope to come.

"Kaka-sensei, what is your dream? You're true dream, and this time you can't back out saying some random stuff or avoiding the question." Naruto asked sternly. He felt cautious around Kakashi now ever since Anko put a genjutsu around him. But otherwise everything was fine between the three. The only problem were the other two genins.

They were spoiled brats that he'd wish would crawl in a hole and die. The Uchiha was arrogant and thought he was the next Sage of Six Paths something. Haruno fawned over Sasuke and thought she was all that because her mother was on the civilian council.

"Pathetic." Naruto muttered. Anko gave him a questioning look. He just smiled at her and kept walking. Kakashi, after deep thought decided to answer.

"Well, I'd have to say to protect my comrades and..." He bent closer to the two and whispered. "To star in a Make out Tactics movie." Naruto chuckled while Anko hit Kakashi on the head yelling pervert.

Awhile later, they saw a puddle in the middle of the path they were walking on. Tazuna, Sasgay, and Whoruno didn't think much of it. However the other three knew that it hasn't rained in weeks and that this was a genjutsu. Anko and Kakashi walked past it but Naruto stayed beside the puddle and threw two kunai in it.

Sakura was about to tell at the blonde boy until two young men from the looks of it jumped out holding their asses with tears coming out of their eyes. Sasuke and Sakura seemed surprised, Anko smirked at Naruto's tactics and Kakashi sighed happily.

While the two hired assassin's ran around trying to pull a kunai out their ass, Naruto chopped both in the neck, knocking them out and tied them to a tree.

"What the hell was that?" Sakura uttered out. Naruto looked over at her.

"Are, are you retarded? Aren't you supposed to be smart? Wow..." He trailed off as he went into deep thought. Sakura was about to hit him before Kakashi spoke up.

"Tazuna-san, why did two Chunin level assassin's try to kill you?" Kakashi questioned the old man. Tazuna started sweating before explaining about how his country didn't have much money so he asked for a c-rank mission. Kakashi sighed and looked at the rest of the group.

"Now, protocol states that we go back to the village. But, since I trust you guys, you can make the decision." Kakashi said eyeing the Genin before him.

"We're going." Naruto said after Kakashi finished.

"Who put you in charge?" Sakura said angrily. "Sasuke-kun should be in charge, not some idiot."

"Yeah dobe, I'm team leader. I'm an Uchiha Elite. No one is above me. I-" he was cut off by a wave of killing intent. Naruto looked at him lazily but with a dangerous look in his eyes.

"Shut up you nuisance." He walked up to Sasuke and pushed him down just my flicking his forehead. "I'm going to show you the pecking order so you will learn your place. Here it goes. You, the council, the dirt, the words that eat the dirt, Kakashi-sensei, the Hokage, and then me. Got it?" Kakashi looked over at Naruto.

"Why is the Hokage lower than you?" He questioned from pure curiosity. Naruto looked at him seriously.

"Because if I so wished Konoha would be in flames right now and no one would stop me. Ojisan has my loyalty, I will not betray him unless he betrays me. Same goes for everyone else." He said without a hint of doubt in his voice.

"Naruto, arrogance won't get you anywhere in life." Kakashi said in a slight teasing voice. Naruto looked over at Kakashi and narrowed his eyes.

"I hate arrogant people. Arrogant people do not make it in the shinobi world because they're full of themselves. No Kakashi, what I speak is not arrogance, but pure confidence and truth. Ask Anko-chan." He said before continuing walking down the small path. Kakashi looked over to Anko but she only nodded her head slightly before walking along with Naruto.
