Cay knew that her husband was still holding on to Braeden Whitford and what some people might call still alive he would probably beg to differ.

She didn't ask to see him and she didn't ask any questions period. This part was Marco's expertise and she wouldn't pursue it.

She was sitting in Julian's room, talking to him while they folded and put his laundry away.

"You know uncle Vittorio told me I was going to be a great big brother" he said proudly. "Did he now?" His mother replied.

He nodded. "I think he's right. I have to show her the ropes" he said, his tone so grown up.

"She has to know which swing is the best one and I will have to show her how to go across the monkey bars without falling.

I will tell her what to do if anyone is mean to her because uncle Dre says I have to protect her from bullies."

Cay didn't know how she was going to deal with her son growing up so quickly. She hadn't realized, until she had become a mother, that life stopped for no one.

"Isabelle will be the luckiest girl in the world, having you for a big brother" Cay told him seriously. "Every girl should have a good man look after her, making sure she is safe and happy."

"You mean like daddy does for you?" He asked innocently. Nothing got by him. He was a little sponge and soaked up everything.

"Yes, figlio. Like daddy does for me and it makes me feel like a queen" I replied.

"Well it's going to be pretty cool having a baby sister" he said, putting away the last pieces of clothing in his dresser.

"Would you like to feel her?" Cay asked.  He had already requested one of the 4D sonogram images, so one of the men ran out and got a frame for it.

It sits on his dresser, next to the picture of his mom and dad, and one of him and Nono taken when they were at the cabin.

"I can feel her?" His voice full of wonder.  Cay nodded, patting his bed.

When he came over and sat down, she took his little hand and placed it to the right of her belly and they only had to wait a moment or so and then she kicked.

Julian's eyes got big like he couldn't believe what just happened.  "That was really her?" He asked.

Cay smiled, rubbing his head.  "Mom!" He called out, annoyed that she had ruffled his hair.

She was about to answer him, when Berto showed up and this time he couldn't hide his poker face, it was out right worry etched into his normally relaxed features.

"I'll keep Julian company while you go see Carmine" he told her.  She nodded, walking quickly down the stairs and into one of the huge guest rooms.

It had been converted into a computer room of sorts and it was Carmine did his best work from.

She could only imagine that something must have happened when Marco and his men went out on yet another lead given them by someone other than Whitford.

When she walked in, Carmine got up from his computer and came over to Cay.

"They were ambushed Cay.  Dre got a busted lip and bruises, Enzo was shot in the leg and Vit took one to the arm" he said, but then was cut off by Cay.

"What about Marco?" She asked worriedly, rubbing her belly.  He didn't answer and suddenly her world seemed to tilt on its axis.

"Carmine!  Where is he?" She yelled.  Was this what it felt like to be consumed by fear or to have the world close in around you?  If it was, she didn't want any part of it.
