The next day I was to stay with Eugene. I met the others like Rick and Daryl. Rick promised next time but he needed to back up on me since he was the leader of the group. I waved goodbye, they did the same, as they drove away. After that I walked inside the church, I gazed upon an unconscious Eugene who was on the floor with my pillow and blanket I gave him. This church is so much more peaceful when it is just me and no one else. I sat next to Eugene's big ol' head. No wonder he is so smart. I snorted and giggled at my thought. "Something funny?" A voice asked. I looked down and to my side was an awake Eugene. Just a note, Eugene is lying down up-n-downwards, not side to side. "Nothing. Just a thought." I told him. "On what?" He asked as he sat up and leaned against the church stadium chairs. "On your big head. Probably the reason why you're so smart." I said as I poked his forehead. I chuckled while Eugene smiled big. "Same for you." Eugene said. We both chuckled. I stared out the church window. "Eugene who were you before.." I paused. "Before what?" He asked as he looked down at me. I looked up at him. Eugene had a confused look on his face. "Before the world went to, well, shit?" I asked. Eugene sighed deeply. "I used to be a high school teacher." Eugene started. My eyes went wide. This just got interesting. "Really?" I asked as I turned myself around to where I was facing him. "Yep. What about you?" Eugene asked. I looked down at the ground. Suddenly Eugene placed his hand on my chin and lifted my head up to where I met his eyes. "I take it you're grieving over your older sister?" Eugene asked. I made sure I had a look of shock on me so Eugene could see. "I heard you and Tara talking that day." Eugene explained to me. I sighed again. "Yes. Yes I am, Eugene. I miss her a lot. She would've liked you. But if she was here, she would be the first to ask you out then me last." I spat out. Shit! Why did I just say that? "Uh, uh I gotta go, Eugene." I quickly added while getting up and walking away. "Wait Ashley!" Eugene exclaimed. I felt him grab my arm and try to pull me back, but I refused to give in. "Stop it!!" Eugene screamed. I froze. Never. Never have I ever thought in my damn life could Eugene ever get like that for him being the coward he is. "I'm sorry." He quickly added. I slowly turned around facing him. Eugene looked sorry and nervous. I stomped to him and pressed my lips against his. I can imagine Eugene's face right now since my eyes were shut. But suddenly Eugene kissed back softly. I wrapped my arms around Eugene as he did as well. I pulled back first as Eugene and I stared at each other's eyes. "Um, I uh.." Eugene stuttered. I can tell Eugene has never been in love before. "It's okay to be nervous. I've never been in love before, either." I told him. "Well that's a relief." Eugene said. I then layed my head on his soft shoulder. Eugene did the same for me. I am so glad I was able to admit my feelings to this man. "By the way, I won't let anyone touch your mullet." I told him. Eugene let out a small chuckle. This was going to be great.
