Chapter 13

3rd Person View:

A grenade exploded from the walker. Glenn got up following the others. Everyone was coughing and wheezing from the grenade. Glenn stumbling got up to his feet. Following Nicholas and Tara. "Oh god..Oh god.." Nicholas groaned. Glenn looked over to see something horrible. Due to the explosion, Aiden was impaled by the metal shelves. "He's dead." Nicholas called out. Glenn felt sorrowful but heard walkers snarling. He turned around and found walkers walking their way to the group. "Noah? Tara? Ashley? Eugene?" Glenn called out to everyone. Suddenly Noah came into appearence of Glenn. "You good?" Noah asked Glenn. "Yeah." Glenn said. "Cage is open. They're getting out." Glenn announced as he pointed his flashlight to the gate. "We need to find--" "Here." Eugene and Tara called out interrupting Glenn. "Over here." Eugene added. Noah and Glenn went to Eugene's direction. They both found Eugene and Tara on the ground, looking down. They both looked and saw Ashley unconscious on the floor, bleeding from the head. Glenn and Noah began to panic. "Is she breathing? Eugene!" Glenn exclaimed. "I-I can't tell from right here." Eugene told them. "They're getting close!" Nicholas yelled. "Walker. Walker." Eugene mumbled. "Eugene. It's yours. Take it out." Glenn commanded. Eugene had to think. What would his girlfriend do? What would his brave, sexy, and sweet girlfriend would do? Eugene nervously pulled out his gun, aiming for the head. Eugene was ready to shoot, when a walker came up from behind and tackled him to the ground. Luckily, Glenn was able to come to Eugene and pull the walker off of him. Noah came as well and smashed the walker's head open. Glenn began shooting walkers as they came closer. "They're coming." Tara said. "Get to the office. I'll get Ashley. Go!" Glenn exclaimed. Noah, Eugene, and Tara ran to the office. With Glenn with Ashley over his shoulder. Glenn gently laid Ashley on a table. Eugene began examining her as Glenn, Noah, and Tara were blocking the door. "How's she doing?" Glenn asked Eugene. "Sh-She has serious head trauma. She's losing blood fast." Eugene informed him. "How do we stop it?" Tara asked Eugene. "Med kit was in Aiden's back. But it got blown to hell." Nicholas informed them. "There's another one in the van." Glenn announced. Eugene was quivering and shaking all over for his girlfriend was dying and there was nothing he could do about it. "She's on her way out. We need to get her there." Eugene said with nervousness in his tone. "All right, we will get her there." Tara said. "Help! Somebody!" The four heard a voice. It was Aiden. Alive. "Oh jesus." Nicholas mumbled. "He's alive?" Glenn asked him. "I checked him. I-I thought.." Nicholas stuttered. "We've got to go get him." Noah said. "Oh jesus. It's gonna take at least four of us." Glenn announced. "We got what kind of time?" Tara asked Eugene. "We pull Aiden off, we could kill him." Nicholas said. "So you're saying we leave him?" Noah asked Nicholas in anger. Eugene was nervous but he knew what he had to do. "Go, save him. She'd do it. I know she would. I'll stay with her. I'll keep her safe, I assure you. I will." Eugene promised. He meant it with all his heart. No matter how scared he was, Eugene would have to keep his girlfriend safe and sound since she has done the same to him. "All right, we'll knock 'em back. You still have that flare?" Glenn asked Nicholas. "Yeah." Nicholas answered. "You fire the flare over the shelves. That'll draw some of them over. All right, we're gonna hit the rest hand to hand." Glenn commanded. "You all ready?" Glenn asked Noah, Nicholas, and Tara. "Yeah." The three responded. Glenn placed his hand on the door knob. "One..two..three!" Glenn yelled and opened the door. The four barged in with Nicholas firing the flare gun. The others ran out with Tara shutting the door to the room Eugene was in. While everyone was out, Eugene began wrapping a cloth around Ashley's head, trying to stop the bleeding. He then turned to his unconscious girlfriend. "I take no responsibility for this. I told you what I was. You should've listened. All of you, you should've listened." Eugene paused as he heard walkers growling ways away. Eugene thinked for a minute. And then realised this was the opportunity to escape. He clicked his flashlight off, put his girlfriend over his shoulders, and slammed the door open. Eugene looked out to make sure there were no walkers at near. Luckily, there wasn't. He noticed the flare was still lit so he assumed the walkers went off towards that direction. As he was walking down, a walker came around the corner. Eugene pulled out his gun and shot it a few times before he shot the head. The walker dropped dead. Eugene kept his girlfriend at ease on his shoulders. He just kept thinking:"This is what Ashley would do." to keep him going. Another walker came and he shot it but only the legs just to get an opportunity to get out of it's reach. Once he close enough, he shot the walker's head. Eugene was still nervous as hell but he kept walking forth. Eugene managed to get out of the building and he walked forth to the van. He gently sat his girlfriend down in the back, checking her. Her head was still bleeding but it was less than before. "I love you." Eugene told her. Eugene leaned in and quickly kissed her forehead. Eugene then climbed in the front seat and began driving down, slowly. After a few seconds, Eugene saw Nicholas running towards him, yelling. "Hey! Come on get out, we're leaving!" Nicholas screamed as he opened the driver's door. Eugene turned off the engine and got out, blocking Nicholas. "Get back in the van!" Nicholas yelled at him. Eugene didn't budge. "Not until you tell me where they are." Eugene demanded. "Either you come back with me or you stay here and you die with your friends. Those are your choices." Nicholas informed Eugene. Eugene didn't say anything. Instead he quickly tried to pull out his gun but Nicholas grabbed on to his hand that held the gun. The two fought for a few before Nicholas threw Eugene to the ground. Nicholas got into the truck but before he could even reach for the keys, Glenn and Tara came in and grabbed on to Nicholas, throwing him down in the process. Glenn began punching Nicholas, eventually knocking him out. But there was a reason for this. Nicholas basically killed Noah by slipping through the doors, saving his own sorry ass. Glenn was mad and he knew Ashley would be upset for Noah and her were close like brother and sister. Glenn stood up, looking down at Nicholas as Eugene stood back up to his feet. "Help us get him in the back." Glenn told Eugene. Just by the tone of his voice, Eugene knew that something was up. "Where's Noah?" He asked. Glenn and Tara looked at Eugene with sorrow and sadness in his eyes. He then realized what had happened. Eugene helped Tara and Glenn put Nicholas in the back of the van, away from Ashley, and they were off back to Alexandria. While Glenn was driving, Eugene sat in the passenger seat, looking down at Ashley. Tara was keeping an eye on her. Eugene looked down and saw Ashley's notebook. The same one from the beginning. It read:" In the beginning.." Eugene looked back up at Ashley. He knew his girlfriend loved to write and he felt tears run down his face. He was extremely worried for her. The three got back to Alexandria. They managed to get Ashley to the infirmary. Denise, the doctor, managed to get Ashley stable again.
