 Run

Her face kept flashing in my mind.

If I could do it over again I never would have said what I did. I could tell I had hurt her. I could see it on her face. She was horrified and heart broken. I didn’t care, I just kept yelling. My heart hammering in my ears, I could hear the rush of blood in my veins. I know I shouldn’t have left, but I did. I left her standing there, her deep red curls matted to her tear soaked cheeks and her stormy green eyes piercing against her startlingly pale face. If only I had known what would happen. That was the last day of my life and the first night of my forever.

I never believed in karma, but this couldn’t just be a coincidence. I ripped away the last piece of her heart, now my life was being targeted. I found myself running. My vision blurred from tears. My canvas shoes sounding like stones against the damp concrete, echoing off of the brick walls on either side of me. I heard laughter but no footsteps, no one else running behind me. It didn’t matter, I knew they were there, chasing me.

Another wall reared up in front of me.

Great, I thought, a bloody dead end. The laughter stopped. I tried to run forward to see if there was another way to go, but my jeans caught on something sharp. I fell forward throwing my hands out in front of me to soften my fall. A sharp pain pierced my hand as I landed and a short scream escaped my throat. I scrambled to sit up and pulled my jeans off of the broken pipe.

There were several pieces of glass in my hand and I tugged at one. I sat softly whimpering as two shadows reared up in front of me. My breath caught. Was I going to  die? I kept my eyes down and tried to slow my rapid breathing. A low, throaty laugh came from the first shadow as he stepped forward to crouch in front of me. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a leather jacket. The tight red shirt outlined the muscles in his chest. He reached a pale hand out to me. I gasped and flinched away.

He pulled my chin up to look at him.

"Gentle!" Someone growled from behind him. His voice smooth  like velvet. I couldn't see him so I looked at the boy holding me.

Wow, I thought. Pale face yet black hair, sapphire blue eyes and pale pink lips. I couldn’t stop my heart from hammering and there were bursts of electricity shooting through the spot where his fingers touched my skin. It felt like dull electrocution.

He pulled me up against his chest with one arm tightly wrapped around my waist and the other gripping the back of my neck.I felt disgusted at our close proximity. He smelled…… Coppery?

“Welcome.” Was all he said before tipping my head back and leaning towards my neck. That was the last day of my life and the first night of my forever. Trapped.
