Introductions- part 2
I felt uncomfortable with my arm linked through Lucas's. The closeness of his body and his scent made my heart wither and my stomach contract. It wasn't because he was unattractive or anything, because he was gorgeous, like a demi-god; but there was just something there, I felt a pull but whenever I gave into it I felt disgusted. I felt Jonah's eyes behind me as he watched Lucas lead me to the garden where the guests were waiting to meet me.
According to Helena the tent was buzzing with excitement because of the new addition to the Salcretion family. Helena had explained the Salcretion's used to be part of the royal council until Jonah and Lucas's father gave up his title to live in peace with his family. They moved as far away from the royal sector as they could and lived how they pleased. There was a sorrowful look in her eyes as she said this and the boys exchanged glances.
Jonah and Lucas's mother was a beautiful woman that was born as a vampire. A true pureblood but was the illegitimate child of a royal and a common vampire. Therefore she did not claim any title and instead worked as a slave girl in the stables. Their father was also a pureblood and born to two members of the royal council so when he came of age it was his turn to take the role of royal advisor.
With both of their parents being purebloods, both Jonah and Lucas were purebloods and believed to be some of the strongest purebloods in history. Only purebloods have the ability to turn a human into a full vampire, the commoners were only able to make them half which meant that the ones they turned became sired to them and only survived on blood. They had chalky pale skin and no sight. They relied on the soundwaves to allow them to move around and could only see human pulses and heartbeats. They did not have the heightened senses but they were vampires all the same.
I stumbled on the steps and Lucas pulled me into him to keep me from falling. I cringed and his face flashed with hurt and disappointment. Did Lucas care that I didn't like him? Surely not, he had no emotion, just saw what he wanted and took it. That happened to be my humanity that night, but I still held on to pieces of it.
I felt Jonah's hand on my back and my pulse immediately started to race. Lucas scowled at Jonah but he just looked forward and smiled. As we reached the bottom of the stairs my hands and the back of my neck had become moist and my legs shook. What will they think of me? What if they don't like me? What if they rule me out as "not fit to be a vampire?' All these thoughts raced through my head as Jonah removed his hand and took a step back. Lucas took a deep breath and rolled his shoulders back, standing up straight.
The two young slave girls raised their hands to the curtain and I saw multiple bite marks over their arms. They gripped the separate edges and opened them to reveal the brightly lit tent filled with the vampires that have awaited my arrival.
*********
I kissed cheeks and shook hands and curtseyed to about one hundred different people. I now stood in front of the royal council as Lucas introduced me and explained to them how my transition went. The council consisted of three pureblood vampires. One man and two women.
The man had long white hair and brown, almost crimson eyes. His pale face blended in with his hair and his red and black tuxedo fitted him perfectly. The woman to his left had curly red hair that just reached below her ribs. She wore a white dress with a plunging neckline and a black pendant hung down between her breasts. The dress was pulled in at the waist by a slim black belt and she wore silver roman sandals that reached just below her knees. Her hair was more ginger than mine and her green eyes were more of a pine tree colour with a brown rim.
The second woman looked stern and scary as her eyes never left me although I partially hid behind Lucas, feeling grateful for his large build. Her black hair reached below her waist and her brown eyes were almost golden. Her clothing was identical to the red-headed woman but on her it looked fierce.
"Her training has not yet started, Your Grace." Lucas's rough voice echoed throughout the tent. Everyone was silent as Lucas spoke to the man. I must've looked like a coward hiding behind Lucas but I didn't care. I was afraid. My eyes met Jonahs' and he looked at me with worry filling his eyes. He looked as if he wished he could be next to me, to comfort me. Or maybe that's just what I wanted. I longed for his soft touch and his warm breath.
"Aliah." The man spoke to the dark-haired woman who tore her gaze away from me. I felt a sigh of slight relief leave my lips as her stone-like stare was no longer trained on me.
"Yes, Sachius?" She addressed him. Her body bent in a graceful bow as he asked for her opinion on me. My heart stopped and my breath caught in my throat in anticipation of her answer.
"The Salcretion's may have their pet, if she causes trouble she will be dealt with." Her stern voice announced. I let out a breath and felt Lucas's stance soften a bit as if he was glad with the news. I heard a whispered 'yes' and looked over to Jonah who blushed and looked away.
"Delania, your verdict?" He addressed the second woman.
"I'd like to see her flourish Your Grace!" She said excitedly with a grin on her face. Sachius smiled softly and nodded to Lucas. Lucas gripped my arm and pulled me out from behind him.
"Come here." Sachius said and I obliged. I stop at the step below his seat and knelt down with my head bowed. "Welcome to your forever Tahleya." My breath hitched in my throat. He knew my name? A bead of sweat dripped down my forehead as I nodded and rose to walk back to Lucas. The party resumed and I asked Helena to take me back to my room.
