Halo
My eyes grew wide as his eyes searched my face. His hair was matted to his head and face from the rain and he was shirtless, his chest splattered with mud along with his jeans. He suddenly had a pained expression on his face as he reached around to touch his back and his hand came back covered in blood.
I gasped and ran to him, gripping his waist and gently pulling him into my room and sitting him on the floor.
"Wait here," I rushed and shuffled towards the bathroom. I grabbed a towel, the first aid kit and filled a bowl with hot water. I rushed back to Lucas, placing the towel on the bed and the first aid kit and bowl of hot water on the bedside table.
Carefully, I helped Lucas up and lay him on the towel on his stomach. I turned the light on and rushed back to lucas, I pulled the cloth out of the bowl of water and wrung it out, using it to clean the blood. Halfway through I had to refill the bowl and sat back down again.
"Tahleyah." Lucas' voice was rough and scratchy.
"Yes Lucas?" I said, my voice coming out soft and gentle.
"Did he tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"What we are."
"Yes, he did."
"Oh."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I was worried that you'd become scared of me again, and we've just gotten close," He took a breath. " I didn't want to lose you Leyah." My heart skipped when I heard the name. Leyah. I've never had a nickname.
"Why did you think you would lose me Lucas?"
"Because, I... i'm not sure." I could hear the frown in his voice.
I finished cleaning the blood and got up to rinse the cloth and bowl out. When I sat, I became thoroughly confused, the blood was coming from two deep cuts near his shoulder blades, in the same spot I saw his scars.
"Lucas?" I said, "What are these from?" Slowly I dragged my fingertip down the side of one cut, feeling the muscle move under my fingers. I was astonished when Lucas rolled his shoulders back and the muscle began to knit itself together and healed over. I brushed my fingers over the new scars feeling Lucas shiver under my touch.
"That was from my wings." He said as he sat up. "I'm half angel, the wings come with that, but I hadn't released them in centuries so my body isn't used to it. I'll be fine now." He reached his hand out and brushed my arm, causing me to shiver and smile.
"Would you like to see them?" He said. I nodded slowly and he stood up walking to the open window. The rain had stopped but the wind was still going strong. Lucas' hair was being whipped around as he stuck his head out the window and perched, ready to jump, before looking back at me.
"Coming?" he said with a smirk. Then jumped. I rushed to the window, looking down I saw Lucas smiling up at me, motioning for me to jump. I swung both my legs out and pushed off. The rush I felt was exhilarating, my stomach moved to my throat and I screamed closing my eyes. Suddenly a pair of muscular arms wrapped around me and my stomach dropped back down. I looked up into a pair of sparkling blue eyes, feeling my lips curl up into a grin. He put me back on my feet and grabbed my hand, leading me towards the woods.

We stopped walking after what seemed like hours, but Lucas assured me it was only 30 minutes, and stood in a clearing lit up by the moonlight. The meadow was covered in beautiful flowers and surrounded by dense forest. I stood at the edge of the circle as Lucas walked towards the middle.
He stood with his back to me, his trousers hanging low on his hips, and rolled his shoulders back. He turned to face me and raised his arms above his head then bringing them to his side he tensed and hunched forward. I watched in amazement as two huge wings unfolded behind Lucas and stretched out, at least 5 metres above his head.
I walked towards him and stopped in front of him, smiling I reached behind him stroking his wing, feeling the soft feathers. They felt strong and I could feel the power radiating from them. I looked back up to Lucas smiling.
"Where's your halo?" I asked, giggling. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me. He bent his knees and pushed up, I felt a gust of wind as his wings started to push us upward, towards the clouds. I pushed myself further into Lucas, hiding my face in his chest. I felt his chest rumble along with his laugh as I cowered.
"Not a heights girl huh?" he laughed. I felt warmth spread over my skin and looked up, seeing the sun peeking through some clouds, causing Lucas' wet hair to glow. There's that halo.
