Bound

{Recap}

“Because vampire was the dominant gene, she took on the form of vampire, but when she had Lucas and I, we showed traits of the other mixes. Lucas showed traits of angel descendants and I werewolf.” He stopped and looked at me, testing my reaction. I sat motionless, waiting for him to continue.

 “We’re hybrid Tahleyah.”

 I sat, staring wide-eyed as the information processed in my mind. Jonah was half-vampire, half-werewolf and Lucas was half-vampire, half-angel. What the hell?! I blinked slowly and sat up straighter, then standing from my seat. Quickly, Jonah rose and moved to stand in front of me, holding his hands towards me.

 “Please don’t be scared Tahleyah.” He rushed, looking at me frantically. His breathing had quickened and so had his heart beat. I looked up, his eyes were filled with panic. Slowly I took a small step backwards, shaking my head. This was a lot to process.

 “So.. Mates?” I said in a small voice, looking at the floor. “What does that mean?”

 Jonah sighed and ran his hand through his hair. “It means we’re bound to each other. You are the only person I will ever be with and I the same to you. I have to mark you and then you’ll be bound to me by a spiritual tether. I’ll be able to sense your emotions and know where you are at all times.” My eyes widened, a spiritual tracking device.

“This is why you feel so safe around me.”

 No. This is too much. I turned and sprinted out of the room, racing down the hallways and tumbled into my bedroom; slamming the door and locking it behind me. I leaned back and slid to the floor, breathing heavily. I’m bound to him? But what about Lucas? If i’m bound to Jonah, why didn’t he turn me instead?

 A soft knock sounded on the door, followed by Jonah’s soft voice. “Tahleyah, open the door. Let’s talk about this. Please Tahleyah.” I heard something thump the door and suspected he was leaning his forehead on it. “No.” I whispered though I know he heard me. he sighed but I heard him turn and walk down the hallway. I stayed where I was until I heard his bedroom door shut, then I stood up, wiping my eyes.

 A shadow reared up in the light from my window and I gasped and turned around. There was a figure sitting on my window sill, silhouetted by the light. Slowly I walked forward and he raised his eyes to mine. My heartbeat quickened.

“Lucas.”
