Chapter 9:
Escape
Darcy's POV
Today was the day, and Darby knew it too. I walk down to Mrs. Reid's office, knocking. She opens the door.
"Darcy..."
"I'm here to talk to you." I murmur. She nods, letting me in. I take a seat.
"What would you like to talk about?"
"When something goes wrong, and it will, you can tell them everything."
"Tell who what?"
"Tell them everything I've told you."
"Who, Darcy?"
"Whoever is asking."
"Darcy-"
"Just do it ok? Tell them I felt out of place. Tell them I'm where I'm supposed to be. Tell them I'm finally happy."
"Darcy are you...are you going to hurt yourself?"
"No. I'm helping myself."
***
"Darcy..." Darby whispers to me.
"Darby, promise you'll be strong for me?" Tears are watering in her eyes and she presses her mouth into a hard line.
"I can't..." She whispers. I hug her tightly.
"Please." I whimper, holding back the tears.
"I...I promise." She murmurs. "Will you promise me one thing?"
"What?"
"You'll call when you can. Tell me when you find them. And please, don't forget about me."
"How could I?" Tears slip down my cheeks. "Your the bestest sister in the world." I murmur.
"Bestest isn't a word." She laughs a little, tears still in her eyes.
"I know." I laugh too. Our laughs are forced, fake, sadness clearly the real emotion behind them. "Before I leave tonight, I'll come say goodbye." I murmur.

That Night
It was time. Unlucky for me, it was raining. I carefully walk down the stairs, having to get something first. The loud rain pelting the roof masks my footsteps. I creep into my fathers study, gripping the key anxiously. I scamper over to the drawer. I open the drawer, dropping every single file into my satchel full of everything else I needed.
"Darcy." I hear behind me. I gasp, turning around. I sighed in relief at the sight of Darby.
"Darby." I sigh, closing the drawer. I walk over to her, and she hugs me tightly.
"I'm going to miss you." She sighs.
"I'm going to miss you too." I whisper. She pulls away after a second.
"Go." She whispers. "Before it's too late." I nod once.
"I love you."
"I love you too." I leave her standing there in my fathers study, running out into the rain. I pull my hood over my head, letting out a sigh. Darby's blonde hair and blue eyes flashed in my mind. I keep running until I'm far away. I stop to take a breath, wringing out my hair. My brown locks were damp and so was the rest of me. Water droplets hung on my lashes, and I begin walking again. I was far from home, pretty far I guess. The train station was only a few blocks away, and I had to push on. Jamming my hands in my pockets, I approach the small place.
"East London." I say to the man, showing him my ticket. He nods once, handing it back to me. I quickly walk to the waiting station, my hood over my head. There's not many people there. A woman, her hair thin and her face wan. Deep circles beneath her eyelids made her bony cheeks stick against the thin skin. She was smoking a cigarette. I turn my eyes to the next person, a male with not much interest. He had a scruffy beard, maybe even homeless. I shift uncomfortably. My foot taps anxiously. Once I got on the train I'd be ok, a perfect escape. But until then, I still had the chance of someone running after me and finding me.
"East London." A train pulls up, my heart hammering against my chest. Well let's do this. I rush into the train, leaving behind my life as Darcy Gold, and beginning my new one as Darcy Styles. I'd made the perfect escape. Nothing was stopping me from finding them, no matter what happens.
AUTHORS NOTE: She finally got away! Sorry it's short but now that she's gone I'm hoping to make the chapters longer. Please leave a vote, like, seriously, please. Bye!
