Chapter 18:
Dad
Darcy's POV
I nearly drop my tray, I almost lose my balance. It's him. It's really him. Is it him? I stare at him, his green eyes a bit dull, faint dark circles beneath his eyes. He looked...sad? His brown hair had a curl to it, same style as I last remember him. It had to be him. It had to be my father. I release my left hand from my IV stand for a second, letting my fingers brush over the silver paper airplane pendant for a second. I grab the stand again, wheeling over to him.
"H-hi." I say. His eyes light up.
"Hello." It's the first time I've ever head his voice in person. I glance down at his left hand, pleased to still see his engagement ring adorning his finger.
"What's your name?" I ask. I sit next to him. It was so hard to keep my cool, I'm meeting my father.
"I'm Harry." He says. "What's your name?"
"You can call me Pixie." I shrug. I didn't want him to call me Pixie, I want him to call me Darcy.
"Ok Pixie." He smirks a little. I yearn to hug him, my father was here, right here, and I didn't even have the guts to tell him.
"What do you like to do?" I ask.
"I mostly like to sing, I did it professionally at a time, but my band is broken up now. Were still friends besides the fact that we did split up."
"That's good. What are their names?"
"Zayn, Louis, Niall, and Liam." Now it was absolutely confirmed. He is my father. This is him.
"What's your favorite color?" I ask him.
"I used to have orange as my favorite color, but now it's green."
"Why?"
"It was the color of my daughters eyes..." He says, looking down at his tray.
"Was?"
"She went missing ten years ago. She's almost thirteen." He whispers.
"I'm sorry." I say. He waves me off. "No, I really am sorry." I whisper. Tears well in my eyes and I quickly take a bite of my fruit, it seemed bitter in my frowning mouth.
"I guess we all know she's gone...but we just can't get rid of that little sliver of hope." He says. I smile a little.
"It's always good to have hope, you can't give up. Never give up." I say. He smiles a little too.
"How did you end up here?" He asks.
"I got in a car crash, you?"
"Same." He creases his brow. I shrug, although I feel something...I don't know, suspicious about the entire thing? "Where are your parents?"
"I...ok, I'm going to tell you a secret, but you can't tell anyone." I say. He nods. "I don't know where they are...well...I do, and maybe you'll know someday." I smile a little. He seems a little confused, but he smiles a little bit. My fingers brush against the paper airplane again, and his eyes glance down to where I am touching. I quickly shove it behind my gown, not wanting him to see it. I couldn't have it happen like it did with Zayn and Per. I had to get to know him first.
"What's that?" He asks.
"Something my father gave me." I smile a little at the faint memory, little things I could hardly remember my fondest memories. "I'd like to meet your wife sometime." I blurt out.
"How did you know I had a wife?"
"Your ring." I say.
"Well she's coming back to tomorrow, maybe she'll come see you."
"I'll come see you guys." I shrug. "If you don't mind me asking, what was your daughters name?"
"Darcy. Her name was-is Darcy." He says sadly. A frown embeds my face, and I place my right hand on his forearm to comfort him.
Harry's POV
I felt like I knew this little girl. She looked just like Darcy, her eyes were just like Darcy's. She had Ariel's face. I couldn't trick myself into thinking anything, it would just crush me further. She was very sweet, love filling her green eyes. The waves in her brown hair swayed as she moved slightly.
"I'm sure she's ok. Wherever she is, I'm sure she loves you."
"She probably doesn't remember, she was only three." I say.
"She remembers. I promise you, she does."
***
I walk into my room, running a hand through my hair. Ariel wouldn't be back till tomorrow. My mind still lingered on Pixie. I knew her from somewhere, I just don't remember from where. I pick up my cell phone, finding I had no messages. I was supposed to be released from the hospital tomorrow at 10:00 AM. I would just have to wait till then. Dr. Prescott pokes her head in.
"Mr. Styles?" She asks. I turn my head and look at her.
"Yes?"
"Have you seen that little girl? The one you were eating lunch with?"
"No, why?" I ask, creasing my brow.
"She's gone." She says out of breath like she's been running. "She ran away."
AUTHORS NOTE: Yeah, I know this chappie is very short, but y'know, I couldn't write about anymore of their meeting. Where do you think Darcy went? Why do you think she would leave when she'd met her father? Read on and find out! Love ya, bye!
