Chapter 15:

Per

Darcy's POV

"Goodbye Pixie." Per whispers, hugging me. I felt comfortable, safe, as if nothing could harm me.

"Goodbye Per." I sigh.

"Don't forget to come see me, y'know, when you find them."

"I won't." I say, stepping back. I admire her blue eyes, her blonde hair, and her smile. Per was someone you just felt like you knew forever. Someone that you'd not be able to forget, once you really met them, really knew them.

"Ok Pixie, be careful. Call me if you need anything." She sighs, opening the door. I smile sadly, waving as I trudge down the path of the large house. I run a hand through my curls, that were now clean since Per let me shower. I crossed my arms, listening to the door shut behind me. It wasn't long till the large house was completely out of sight. Christmas was coming soon, a week. It pained me to know I'd be alone for Christmas. Maybe I could visit Per...no that'd be intrusive of me. I lick my lips and let out a shaky breath. I had to get a move on, it wasn't long till the police would find me. The thought sent a shiver down my spine. Cops were everywhere now, and my 'parents' Alex and Sandra, (what their names were before they changed them) were intent on finding me. If they did I wonder what they'd do. They know I know everything, and probably hid the note before calling the police. They weren't stupid, that one note could make them look bad to all of society. I wonder what they said when the police asked for my birth certificate, or had they created one where I was their child. I wouldn't ever be, and they sickened me. To think I ever trusted them, to think I ever even loved them, was just disgusting, foul. I hope their arrested once I release the truth to the public, possibly far away. A newsstand catches my eyes, the bright color of a certain magazine catches my eye. I jog over to it. I yank it down, looking frantically around. I read the headline.

PARENTS EAGER FOR DAUGHTER TO RETURN FOR CHRISTMAS

This wasn't good. Not at all. I flip through the pages, coming to the article.

'Twelve year old Darcy Gold went missing approximately a week ago, leaving her parents, and thirteen year old sister, Darby, behind. The twelve year old has been put onto a reward of 300,000$ if returned safely to the parents.'

My eyes widen. 300,000?! I glance over to the picture of me in the side, about a few years younger. Crap. This was no good. Not at all. I had to get rid of these magazines, but there was no way, thousands, possibly millions of people have seen this, and no doubt the people running it have. I pull in my beanie and slip on some sunglasses, he best I could do for now. Sure, I looked like an idiot wearing sunglasses in the winter but what else could I do?

"Excuse me? Young lady?" I hear someone ask behind me. My heart hammered against my chest, and I let out a shaky breath. I turn my eyes landing on a police officer. Oh no! I swallow down my surprise, trying to act nonchalant.

"Yes sir?" I ask.

"Young lady where are your parents? It's not safe to be walking around here alone." He states, his stance showing me he was wary of me.

"Oh, um, my uh...my mum-"

"Young lady I'm going to have to ask you to come with me." He says, reaching a hand out. I immediately step back a little, my back pressing into someone. I spin around, my eyes landing in none other than Per.

"Sweetheart! I'm sorry I took so long! I got caught up looking at the other things in the store!" She covers up. I look at her, confused. "I'm sorry my daughter caused any trouble sir, we'll be on our way." Per acts.
