Chapter 10:
On My Own
I stare out the train window, water leaking down the sides. I've been on the train for three hours now, unable to sleep. I was so tired, but I felt restless. I turn to my bag, opening it. I pull out a file, sifting through the pictures, a small smile appearing on my face. Every picture gave me new light, hope. I take a one of all three of us, folding it and putting it in my pocket. I would keep this one with me from now on. I put the file back, looking back out into the window. Water droplets rippled down the glass, making it hard for me to see. I rest my head against the window, my eyes drooping. I wonder if they found the note yet, the one where I'd written, 'I Knew Everything'. I hope Darby would be ok without me, and I hope I'd be ok without her. Sighing, I try not to think about it. The past few hours I've been imagining and playing out how I would meet them, my parents. Maybe I'd see them at a store or something...I don't know. My eyes continue to droop closed, and I fall asleep.
~Dream~
It's night time, and in lay in between my mother and father. It's comfortable, and I feel safe.
"I love you Darcy." Mom whispers to me, kissing my head. I'm about two.
"I love you too Mommy."
~End Dream~
I jolt awake at the sound of screeching metal, cringing lightly at the horrid sound. The sky was lighter now, but no one was awake yet. I let out a shaky breath, pulling a hand through my hair nervously. What would I do when we stopped? Where would I stay? I'd figure it out when we stopped I guess, but I had to have some sort of plan. My fingers fiddle with the metal paper airplane around my neck. I guess I would just start walking. Just walk. Walking would be something stupid to do, but how else was I supposed to travel? Maybe I'll walk to a bus station and get a ride into town. Sounds easy enough...

We finally arrived in East London, and it grabbed my bag, making sure everything was in there. They had to know I was missing by now, so I had to get a move on. What if Darby told? I bite my lip, throwing the satchel over my shoulder and running from the train. The air is thick and warm from the rain, and the fog heavy. I keep my hood pulled over my head, walking. My combat boots clomp onto the hard packed dirt. I begin humming to myself again. Apparently my Dad was a sensational singer, according to magazines, but what did I know about that time? I reach into my pocket and pull out the picture of all three of us, smiling a little. I can't wait to meet them. What if they thought I was dead? If I could just prove to them I was really Darcy Styles, they'd be overjoyed to have me back. I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. Here I was, free. Free and on my own.
AUTHORS NOTE: I'm sorry it's short, but I'm trying to make these chapters fillers for when she will finally meet them. Bye!
