"Eldstone, down here!"
The eighteen-year-old saber tooth tiger ran. His feet moved as fast as the wind, carrying him swiftly down the steps. "Louy!" He smiled. The falcon stood. His wings rested against his side. The clothes both of the boys wore were crinkled. The pants being held up by a single rope.
Eldstone fixed his shirt. The cotton rubbed against his tan and white fur, making him feel uncomfortable. He scratched his white-furred chin. The white fur started from his neck all the way down to the tip of his toes. The rest of the surrounding fur was completely tan.
Louy stretched out his wings. His brown, dark brown, and gray feathers showed vibrantly in the morning sunlight. The bird's beak curved slightly and was quite small. His claws scraped against the stone path next to the wooden cabin. Light brown acted as a napkin under his beak. While, the rest of his body had black specks. Especially on his belly feathers. His brown eyes moved to his rope belt.
The peregrine falcon fixed his cotton shirt and pants.
"Shall we walk?" Louy asked.
"Indeed we shall." Eldston joked.
The two walked down the cobblestone path. Guardsmen raised their spears as Eldstone and Louy passed the wooden gates.
The amour the Guardsmen wore was clean and pressed. A red cloth covered them whole, including their snouts. Small pieces of steel amour covered both their arms and legs. Along with the chest. Hard steal was used to keep the armor strapped on. In their hands were rounded shields. Louy and Eldstone could hear the gates close behind them. They were approaching the town.
People littered the streets, cups were in their hands. Others walked the streets looking depressed and worried. Evergreens stood tall but had sear marks on them.
The few that owned shops were constantly bickering with the customers.
Houses were seared with ashes or not there at all.
The only buildings that stood were stone watch towers, and sacred places.
Why do we even walk here? Its just a reminder.. He looked at Louy. "Lets go. I can't stand being here." Louy said walking a little bit faster letting his tail feather drag behind him.
They continued to walk, making it near the stone wall that guarded the village. Guards strolled on top and around the wall.
As Louy and Eldstone climbed up the stone steps to the wall Eldstone saw something out of the corner of his eye. "What is it?" Louy asked noticed he stopped. "Since when has that cave been there?"
The two bolted down the steps.
