A/N: Mentioning Jules Bianchi in this chapter as well. Have to admit I cried a little during writing, he was one of my favourite drivers 😔. Dedicating this chapter to him I guess? Fly high, Ciao Jules ❤

"That cold, black cloud is coming down. Feels like I'm knocking on heaven's door. Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door".
Knocking On Heaven's Door // Guns 'N Roses
As Daniel was doing a last track run at 6.30 in the morning before the race, Maja and a couple others were at the motorhome to get something to eat. After breakfast they would get in the pit box to get the car ready for the race.
Maja got her cappuccino from the coffee machine and contently smelled the nice odour of the coffee beans. She got a tray to get some of the tasty looking sandwiches and softly hummed Welcome To The Jungle as she was hesitating on which sandwich she should choose.
"Guns N' Roses there, Maja?". Daniel was suddenly behind her and she gasped, almost dropping her tray, causing the coffee to spill over the edges of the cup. "Dan". She sighed, smiling as she couldn't resist the handsome driver who was innocently looked at her spilled coffee.
"And yes, Guns N' Roses". Maja continued and cleaned her plate with a couple of paper wipes. "You were quick today". She mentioned as it had been around twenty minutes that he left to run on the track.
"Feeling fit". He shrugged and got a bottle of water.
Daniel sat down next to Maja and dug his teeth into an apple. "Glad you are, there are just a few hours left till kick off". The Swede wiggled her eyebrows and he chuckled. "Is this the first F1 race you'll witness?". He asked.
"No, I've been going to the American grand prix nearly every year when it worked at Daytona with Nascar". She cracked a small smile. "Oh, that's nice. Supporting me about your whole life?". Daniel grinned cheekily.
"Since I'm in the diapers". Maja said with a sarcastic tone in her voice and she watched him amused as he laughed loudly, his head thrown back with those little twinkles in his eyes. "Was it that funny?". She asked, chuckling a bit. "Just your face when you said it". Daniel giggled and wiped his eyes.
"Nice, but I'm going to the pit box now, so see you later!". Maja stood up and waved as she left the cafeteria to walk outside and quickly sneak into the pit box. It was pretty crowded already, some VIP visitors strolling around the paddock and of course every motorsport journalists hoped to get a small glimpse of a driver around.
The hours passed rather quickly as Maja worked on the front wheels again. The small clips in the disc brake weren't the way she liked them to be and she quickly worked on them before the mechanics would screw the tyres over it.
Daniel got a quick shower, only to get dressed in his racing overall afterwards. He pulled the tight white pants over his legs and the white under shirt over his head. He stepped into the legs of his overall and let hang around his waist.
Daniel sat down to put his racing boots on and tied them quickly. He searched for his watch he had laid on the small table in the room and looked at the picture frame that stood on it.
Simon must've put it here. A picture of him and Jules he always brings to races since he passed away July 2015. The last races of that season went okay, but there wasn't a day that he didn't think about his friend.
He didn't know why it hit him so hard now, he had learned to live with it since it's almost a year since Jules's passing now. Somehow he fell straight back into the dark pit of depression like he just got the call that Jules was knocking on heaven's door.
