"The light on the horizon was brighter yesterday. With shadows floating over, the scars begin to fade. We said it was forever but then it slipped away, standing at the end of the final masquerade".
Final Masquerade // Linkin Park
Maja was quiet during the flight, holding the blanket tightly around her and cuddled up in Daniel's embrace. Daniel was glad she was sleeping as the dark circles under her eyes didn't leave unnoticed by him. He combed his fingers through her hair softly, the first thing he wanted to do was get her home and let her take a warm shower, give her his favorite sweater and tuck her in to let her sleep.
Daniel's eyes fell on Colin in front of him who was looking out of the window of the jet. "What's going to happen with that psycho piece of filth?". He almost spat out the words, making Colin chuckle a little. "He's never getting a taste of the daily life again". The agent said. "He was shot through his shoulder blade and knee, that hurts I can tell you". Colin added with a sigh.
"But he'll never hurt any woman again". Daniel nodded. He couldn't understand how one can have such a twisted mind. He shook his head when he thought about it again, the videos he had received from Albin. "She saved herself, you know? If she never pointed out the number plate in the mirror, it would've taken us longer than that short amount of time". Colin spoke up again as he was thinking about it.
"She's strong". Daniel murmurs, stroking his fingers through her hair again. "Strong minds collapse once as well. You have to watch her". The Australian didn't respond to the last thing the agent said, not wanting to think about that yet. He was just glad to have her with him again, and he didn't want to lose her out of his sight anymore.
Their home in Monaco was welcoming. Daniel carried her into the bathroom. "Are you hungry, hmm?". He softly asked as her sleepy eyes looked at him. "A little". Her voice spoke and he smiled gently. "Then I'd make you something to eat while you shower". He said about to move out of the bathroom when she grabbed his arm. "No! I mean, please don't leave". She said and Daniel's heartbeat quickened in panic. "Okay, I'm going nowhere. I'm right here". He told her.
Maja relaxed a little and dropped the blanket on the ground. Her fingers were shaking when she pulled her shirt over her head, turning away from Daniel. His chest ached as she was used to shower in front of those men and she wanted to cover herself up for Daniel now as well. "Do you... do you want me to turn around?". He hesitantly spoke. She was quiet, not really knowing either. "It's okay". She just mumbled, getting the last pieces of clothing away from her body.
Her hand reached out to feel the water, used to feeling a cold waterfall on her hand, however it was now lukewarm water. Daniel saw how she kept standing towards the wall. "Maja...". He softly started. "You know I wont hurt you, right?". Maja nodded softly, looking at him from over her shoulder. She slowly turned his way, looking at the tile floor.
Daniel gasped at seeing the bruised spots on her body, her hips, her thighs and collar bones, knife cuts on her upper arms. She looked up at him and her eyes filled with tears, the dirt of her hair dripping on the floor. Her arms automatically went to cover herself up and Daniel's heart ached at this. He stepped towards her slowly, not caring about getting wet.
He said nothing about the bruises, getting some shampoo to wash her hair. Daniel made sure nothing came into her eyes when he washed it out again. He got a soft sponge and washed her shoulders, letting her get used to his gentle touched again before washing the rest of her body. Maja was shaking a slight bit and it hurt him how she might be scared of him too.
Daniel turned the water off and reached out to get the soft towel. He wrapped it around her, drying her hair and wrapping it tighter around her body. He lifted her up in his arm, getting to the bedroom they used to share. He set her down on the bed, grabbing one of his shirts and a pair of boxers. Daniel let her open the towel herself, which took a couple minutes, but it was fine.
