"While we're talking about all of the things that I long to believe. About love and the truth and what you mean to me and the truth is, baby you're all that I need. I wanna lay you down on a bed of roses, for tonight I'll sleep on a bed of nails".
Bed Of Roses // Bon Jovi
Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai Shi, China, April 10/17 2016.
Shanghai Hongqiao is the most amazing airport Maja has ever seen. The technology seemed to be from the future here, carts with baggage and other stuff driving itself, basically robots on wheels. The flight was awfully long, 17 hours and 30 minutes.
They arrived in the middle of the night weird enough. They left Saturday evening at 7 precisely, flying almost 18 hours would make you think it would be Monday night, but no, timezones come to fuck you up because it's 16 hours earlier than in Milton Keynes, lol what?
Exactly. Maja didn't really care about the time, even though her body needed sleep desperately. Oh and some of those extremely good looking Pisang Goreng...
She curiously eyed the high speed train that rode underneath the airport to the other side of it, where they could get out and travel to the hotel. Daniel looked like he could just lay down on the cold tile floor and fall asleep.
He had a coffee in his hands, but didn't even feel like he had the energy to bring the cup to his lips. The air in the train was hot and the picture you have of busy China is completely true. Maja couldn't sit the short ride, but she didn't mind that much.
She was squished between Daniel and Sam and she leaned her head on Daniel's chest. Red Bull made sure they would arrive on the Sunday so the drivers and crews had enough time to rest and get back into training on Monday.
Daniel had a few sponsor events planned, one of them on a school in Shanghai. Christian also mentioned that they'd have a team dinner on a special location this Thursday.
Maja yawned as they got out, putting her bag on her shoulders again. The whole crew was spread over a couple vans from the Airport service to get to the hotel. The city bathed in bright lights and showed how busy China was, not only at daytime.
The five star hotel Hua Ting looked so luxe and Maja could almost feel the soft mattress of the bed beneath her sleepy body.
She zoned out as someone got the keys for all the rooms and she got one push in her hands, but she knew she wouldn't use it anyway.
They went into the gigantic tube elevator and got out at the almost top floor. Maja just followed Daniel. "You're not going into your room, right?". He chuckled as she waited for him to unlock the door. Maja shook her head with a smile.
She dropped her bag on the floor and flopped straight down on the bed. Daniel laughed as she laid there like a starfish sprawled out over the sheets. "I don't even want to change my clothes". Maja mumbled, making room for him.
"Then you don't". He mumbled, pulling his shirt over his head and sliding his jeans down his long legs.
Maja did an attempt to sit up, but she stared blankly at the floor and just let herself fall back. Daniel snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her into his chest. She laughed as they both looked like the walking dead and she wrapped her arms around his torso, laying half on him.
The Australian was sound asleep within a few minutes, not even bothering to get Maja's thick curls out of his face.
Maja woke up from her cramped position that made her feel like she broke her spinal cord, since she laid with the upper side of her body on Daniel. Somehow he had managed to turn around to his stomach without waking her, drooling half over the pillow now.
