Rhea's POV:

I sat in a chair near the window of our hotel room. Lyra had been asleep in her memory for the last half-hour. I could see that Atlanta as beginning to panic. She was nibbling on her long fingernails and messing around with her hair, which I had noticed she only did when she was nervous or anxious.

Robyn put a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay." She smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "Lyra will be fine. Maybe it's just a bit more complicated for her to figure out than we thought it would be."

Atlanta nodded. "You're right. That's probably what's going on. I just..." She shrugged. "I don't know. I'm worried. This has never happened before. They always come out of it as soon as they get the information they need."

Jack narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean, before? You've done this more than once?"

She nodded. "Yeah. I mean, when you're immortal, you're bound to forget some things, right? And later on, some people want to remember."

He nodded in grudging agreement. "Yeah, I guess. That makes sense I suppose."

Hannah got up from her place next to Lyra. "We should maybe get started on the next part of the plan. I mean, sure, Lyra needs to remember what everyone needs to do next, but I think that we should have a back-up plan just in case it doesn't work."

"Well, what would we do?" asked Anna. "I mean, we're stuck. We have no where to go. That's why Lyra is doing this in the first place, right"?"

Hannah sighed. "Yeah, I guess you're right." She ran a hand through her short red hair. "This is frustrating."

I leaned forward. "What about me?" I looked around. "Should I still be going to the school?"

Robyn sighed and shrugged. "I don't know. I mean, it would be good for the cover, but at this point, it isn't really all that necessary. You've done all you can at that school. There's not much more you can do. If you want to go, though... Gather some more information about anything, you can. Maybe figure out about that mural."

My thoughts flitted to Keegan. Part of me felt like I was drawn to him. And another part of me told me that I would never see him again, so why bother worrying about him? I wanted to go to the school. It was unlike any other school I had gone to before. It felt normal.

But would I put my desires above my mother's life? Would I put what I want over what I know I should do?"

I glanced over to Lyra's body. Her lips were curved in a slight smile, and her blonde hair rested over her shoulder elegantly. I just wished that she would wake up so we could move on with all of this. I was done waiting. My mother was in danger, and I had to finish this stupid quest to get back to her.

A groan caught all of our attention. Lyra's eyes fluttered open, and I grinned, standing up and rushing to her side. "Lyra?" I asked. "Lyra, how do you feel?"

"Ugh. Sick. It feels like some elephants stepped on my head. Repeatedly." She squinted her eyes. "I... I think I know what we have to do. There was a girl we were looking for. Her name was Teresa. I think that if we can find her, we can move on. But I don't know if she's still in Gray Birch. I mean, who would stay in this little town if you can move anywhere?"

"We can hope that she's here and if not, we can leave and try to find the clue somewhere else," suggested Anna.

I nodded. "Let's do that. So we're looking for a Teresa?"

Lyra nodded back.

"Then let's go find her." And my mother, I thought to myself.

Dear readers,

Wow. I am so sorry for not updating in forever. I've been busy focusing on Kiros and Raela for the past while. I thought I could probably add in a little chapter here while I was at it.

Sorry for the length of this chapter. I'm just... In a place where the ideas are like "Nah. Let's not". Forgive me!

What do you think they'll do next? What do you think Rhea will do about going to school?

-a very sorry flygirl1
