Jessica
I wake up from possibly the best dream I've ever had. It was about me and my dad, and my mom. My dad was happy, we all were. I still went to school, and Sam and Charlie went to my school. Then I woke up, and I was no where near the school I wanted. I was still in the dusty vents above the ceiling. At least Charlie was with me.
I looked around but didn't see her anywhere. Maybe she went exploring, we did only get here last night. My stomach growled and my throats was dry as a desert, probably dehydrated. I wait for a while, but she still hasn't come back. I wish she would come back already, we need to move.
After another five minutes go by, I decide to go and find her myself.
"Charlie." I call out, no reply. "Charlie!" I try again, but louder.
"Jessica!" I here her call back. I look around, trying to find where her voice is coming from.
"Charlie? Where are you?" I ask.
"Down here!" I look down and see that, once again, I am standing on top of the vent over her cell, and she is inside.
"Charlie? What are you doing? Quick, I'll help you back up!" I go to take the vent off, but she stops me.
"Jess, stop." I freeze and look at her.
"Why? What's wrong?" I ask her.
"We can't both survive up there by ourselves. I'll tell everyone that you're up here and we'll bring you food and water whenever we can-"
"Charlie this is ridiculous. This is our chance to escape and you're not going to take it? That's crazy, just take my hand." I go to reach my hand out, but she stops me again.
"Be quite, someone's coming." I here heavy footsteps going down the hallway. I look at her first one last chance, but all she did was nod. I quickly pulled myself back up. Now that I think of it, I am extremely hungry. I heard the footsteps coming closer to the cell.
Suddenly, my stomach let out a big growl. I tried my best to quiet it, but it was no use. I heard the footsteps stop by the cell.
"You hungry Bradbury?" The man says with a heavy voice.
"Yeah, I- I didn't eat dinner last night." She stammers.
"Well then, are you sick? Because all our children must have perfect health." He questions.
"Oh no. I was, um, I just wasn't hungry. I'm fine, really." The man made a low grunt sound, then walked away. All of a sudden, alarms started going off everywhere. They were loud, piercing my ear drums. I quickly brought my hands up to my ears, but it hardly blocked out the sound. Then a voice started talking out.
Prisoner missing. Jessica lee Moore has escaped her cell. If anyone lays eyes on her, report to an adult immediately. There will be pictures of her hanging up everywhere for description. Again, report to us immediately.
Well, now I have no choice if I want to go back. In all honesty, I don't even remember where my cell was at. I have to get out of this area, it's to risky. I quickly start to crawl away.
I crawled and crawled for so long. But I couldn't stop, at least not until I see another opening. I can't stay in these vents forever, but for now, this is the best chance I have.
Up ahead, I see another light. I quickly crawl up to it. When I reach it, I can hardly see through the slits. Desperate to get out, I banged on the tile until it finally broke. It fell to the floor followed by a loud bang. I poked my head through to get a better look.
I couldn't see much, but it was a pretty long drop. I had no choice. I dropped down. The fall felt like minutes. When my feet hit the ground, my legs buckled and I hit the ground, my ankle throbbing. I looked at it, and already starting to see it bruise. Great, now I have a sprained ankle and no idea where I am. I got up and limped across the room. With every step, my ankle throbbed, but I didn't have a choice. I looked around. There were pictures everywhere of a girl with blond hair and a big smile. Most of them looked as though she didn't know she was being watched. There was writing everywhere on the walls. I walked up to a wall and read some of the lines. It was written in red ink very sloppily. There were things like: SHE WAS MINE. THEY TOOK HER AWAY FROM ME. HE WAS JEALOUS SHE LOVED ME.
One of the pictures were labeled Mary Campbell. Strange. I wonder who that is? All I know is this guy is one sick puppy.
Then I heard sobbing coming from a window on the other side of the room. I lumped across slowly, in case it was a trap. I peered through the corner of the window. There was a girl chained up with blond hair (I could tell it was dyed) and her mascara was running down her cheeks. She looks strangely a lot like that Mary girl in all the pictures. Then I saw someone enter the room. It was Aiden. My cheeks immidialaty heated up. My jaw clenched. Anger rose up in me. But I couldn't do anything. All I could do was watch, like always.
"What's wrong Mary?" He asked the girl. She sobbed hard again, then started screaming.
"I told you my name is not Mary! My name is Abigail! Leave me alone!" She yelled loudly. She was on her feet now, but the chains around her wrists restricted her from going any farther. Aiden stepped closer, calmly.
"Now now Mary. You need to get yourself together if you ever want to see our son." She has a son? I hope he doesn't hurt her. She shook her cried, if possible, even harder.
"I don't have any children." She said between sobs. Aiden scrunched his eyebrows, like he was generally confused.
"Mary? How could you forget our lovely son?" He then relaxed his face again. "You must be tired, here. I'll help you sleep." He pulled out a syringe and advanced toward her. She tried to run away. But she couldn't. He grabbed her tightly and jammed the needle into her arm. When he was finished, the girl fell to the ground. Aiden then exited the room.
What had I just witnessed? Who is that girl? What is Aiden up to? What ever it was, I wasn't sure if I wanted to know.
