Chat Noir

Marinette opened her window once again, but this time to go back inside her room.

I followed her inside quietly, not wanting to wake her parents as I entered their home.

I looked around the dark room, seeing familiar things like her desk, corkboard and bed.

I smiled like I always at the heart-shaped picture frames and posters on her wall of me as Adrien. She was just too cute.

Marinette flipped on her light switch, brightening her dark room.

She dashed over to her bed and sat down, looking at me with big curious eyes.

"So, what exactly do we need to talk about?" She asked, her voice soft and low so she wouldn't disturb anyone sleeping downstairs.

I looked her, seeing her for the first time in a brand new angle.

That's what I loved about visiting her as Chat Noir; she's much more open and will talk about anything with me.

Anytime I'm around her as Adrien, she just clams up and can't speak to me the way she does with Chat.

But the way she looked at me tonight reminded me of how I sometimes look at Ladybug.

My eyes curious, a caring smile on my face, my ears open and ready to listen.

Talking to her just seemed so familiar and safe.

"You and I have been...friends for a little bit now," I began, "and I'd like to believe that I could tell you anything."

Marinette looked at me like she was flattered. "Of course Chat, anytime you need me, I'm a tap-on-my-window away."

I chuckled at her words, but then my face grew serious again.

"As I told you before, Ladybug did something...terrible yesterday." I said, running a hand through my golden blonde hair and watching her nod.

"Yes, I remember."

"That...nightmare you had sounded a lot like what happened after the thing she did. So close in fact that it sounds like you had a vision as Ladybug when that happened." I said, trying to explain what I was getting at.

She raised a brow, "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"After Ladybug did what she did, she looked at me from across a crowd of millions. I ran to her, screaming things like: 'snap out of it!' and 'what are you doing?!' but she just stared at me with a blank expression. After that, she dropped this...weapon, and passed out in my arms. I barely got her out of there in time before mobs of people tried to rip her away from me." I said, remembering that day all too well.

Marinette looked at me with somber eyes and opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you." I said, reaching an arm to her.

Instead of pushing me away, she just blinked back tears and looked down.

I sat down beside her, placing my hand on hers for comfort.

"Are you okay?" I asked softly.

She looked at me once again, her eyes glassy.

"Chat, I need to know what she did." She said, her voice cracking from her tears.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before gazing into her eyes again.

Then, my miraculous beeped.

I looked down at my ring.

One minute left before I transformed back.

She shook her head before I could say anything.

"It's fine, you have to go."

"I'm so sorry Marinette, I promise I'll come back again tomorrow." I said, before running to her window, and disappearing into the night once again.
