Adrien
The picture was obviously Ladybug, but she was dressed in black with red spots instead of the other way around.
She looked almost evil in the eye, but I ignored it and focused on the words I had written.
Harm is love like love is harm.
I had heard that phrase before, but I just couldn't pinpoint where.
Then again I didn't even remember drawing the picture.
I tried hard to remember where I had heard it, but I eventually just gave up and looked over at my phone.
I had 4 missed calls and two voicemails from a couple hours ago.
All of which were from Marinette.
I pressed on them and held the phone up to my ear.
"Hey Adrien...look, I know what I did wasn't cool...but you have to believe me when I say I did it for both of us. I'm...uh...in a place right now where being around people isn't a good idea for me...I just wanna talk about it and start over if that's okay....call me back whenever you can."
"Hey...it's me again. So listen, I know I was vague, but that's no reason to ignore my calls. I know I screwed up...but I have to talk to you about something important...please...I just wanna fix this before it becomes worse. I just don't have the mental capacity to lose someone like you...I hope that doesn't sound too weird...I just...ugh..please call me whenever you can."
There was aloud beep, indicating that I had no more messages.
I sighed and hovered my thumb over Marinette's contact.
I hesitated, thinking about what she could've meant.
She didn't like me anymore...
At lease, that's what I had come to believe.
I sighed with frustration and looked down at the floor.
She was in love with Chat Noir, so why was she acting this way around me?
I knew it wasn't cheating since were never in a relationship, but it also felt strange that she would be calling me and not tell me about it as Chat Noir.
Of course I wanted to fix things, I just didn't know if I could trust her.
So I called, and it rang.
And rang.
And then sent me to voicemail.
I waited for the beep and kicked the wall.
"Hey Mari, it's Adrien. I was just calling you back to talk about what happened. I hope you know that I forgive you, but my life is very strange right now too..." I paused before taking a deep breath and continuing, "I want to tell you everything Marinette, but my life is so crazy...and I know you could handle it...but I only know that because you're stronger than I am. I just don't know how you do it sometimes...you just seem to know the answers to everything. Even if you ran out, I forgave you almost instantly. I just want to talk to you and fix this...I know what it feels like to be hurt by someone you love...and I never want you to feel that way, so please...call me back Mari."
I swallowed my pride and sent the message, breathing in slowly as I looked over at Plagg.
"That took some guts kid," he said, chewing on his paw.
"I just said what I needed to, and things that she needed to hear. She's very unstable right now Plagg," I said, putting my head between my knees.
"I know, but so are you. You just need to rest and think about what needs to be done about our situation before you can go fall in love with her," he said.
That was the problem.
I was so in love with her.
And I hated myself for that.
I got up and looked out my window towards Mari's house, seeing her talking to someone through her window.
I smiled at her, though she looked discouraged.
I wanted so badly to run to her and tell her everything.
But I knew that it wasn't the time to do so when she was like that.
so I watched her talk to someone I couldn't see.
What happened next though was not so happy.
One moment, she was speaking to someone...
The next...
She fell to the ground and didn't come back up.
Before I could yell at Plagg to transform, the building was up in flames...
