Jasper's Point of View
I am calm as I head towards the house. I know exactly what I am going to say, and I know how I will reply to her words. I haven't thought too much about my plan, in order to keep her naive. I am sightly afraid to let her go, but I am more afraid to keep her with me.
When I arrive at the house, I take a deep breathe. I know that this will affect my family forever, and I may put a wedge in our family. But I must do what has to be done. I enter the house, and Emmett is immediately frowning at me, with Rose by his side.
"Jasper," Emmett says. "I was so excited to play Baseball with you, and you bailed on me. I am so angry at you Jasper." And it was true. He was angry. But it wasn't only anger, it was sadness. Because I was supposed to be there, and I wasn't.
"Listen Em." I smile softly. "I will make it up to you, I promise. But right now I have something I need to deal with, but after that, we can go hunting if you would like? Rose, you can come too."
"I think that is a good idea Jaz," Rose smiles, grabbing Emmett's hand. "We'll see you in a bit." I wonder if anyone else knows, apart from Alice, Edward and Isabella. Who else was let in on this secret? Probably no-one.
I begin to walk up the stairs, taking my time, and I continue to take deep, unnecessary breaths just to keep my cool. I feel nervous, which is an unusual feeling for a vampire. But what I am about to do is crazy, and I never foresaw it. But I wonder if Alice knows why I am here. I wonder if she has figured it out yet. I hope not. I open our bedroom door and she is sitting in the armchair. She smiles at me.
"Hey Jasper," she says. "Is everything okay?" Well, she doesn't know.
"I am fine thanks Alice," I take a seat on the bed. "Can we talk please?"
She raises an eyebrow. "Okay?"
"I overheard Isabella and Edward in the forest," I say. Realization followed by dread flows through her.
"Oh Jaz," she places down her book, and walks over to me and sitting by my side. "I am so sorry. I was planning on telling you."
"I'm not angry Alice," I say honestly. "I am hurt, yes, but I am not angry at you. I cannot imagine what you had to go through, and the pain you may have felt when you realized you had to tell me. But I need to know, why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't tell you because I didn't want to lose you, I couldn't imagine myself without you by my side. I know it is selfish of me - and I hate myself for it - but I could imagine seeing you with someone else," Alice says, her eyes filling with venom tears which will never fall. "I wish I could explain it to you."
"I cannot continue living this lie Ali," I say, looking at my hands. "I cannot continue pretending to be something, when I now know that we are not. I will not do that to myself, or to you. We are family, and we always will be family. But I can no longer be your husband, and I can no longer be your partner."
"I understand," Alice says looking out the window. "I hope we can still move past this."
"I am sure you already know if we will," I smile softly at her. "Will we?"
"We will."

My feet slam against the forest floor as I sprint, feeling a new type of heartbreak. In my mind, flashbacks occur of Alice and I. Our meeting, our first kiss, our first time. She was my first true love. But I am sure she will not be my last, especially as I live forever. Now I will focus on myself, focus on my life and I will continue living with her as a sister.
"What even happened Jaz?" Rose asks, as she runs by my side. "I know you guys broke up, but how?"
"We were never mates Rose," I say. "She had lied to me about it for our whole time together. She knew, and Edward knew. I overheard Edward confront Isabella about it on our way to the baseball match. I don't know how Isabella figured it out."
"Well, she is smart Jaz," Emmett says. "Like super smart."
"I just didn't know how to take it. So I had to make an excuse to miss the game, so I didn't have to deal with the problem at that moment. I spent the few hours thinking, thinking about my options. I could have either stayed quiet, pretend to not know and go on with Alice's little façade. Or I could've confronted her about it, let her know that I knew. I also visited Isabella when she returned home. Let her know that I was thankful for her indirectly letting me know. And then I went to the house," I continue running, because running is something I can do well. Running is something I am used to. Running is an escape.
"Well Jasper, I am sure that you will be able to overcome this," Rose smiles at me. "You are Jasper Whitlock. You can survive anything."
"I am thinking about having some space," I say. "I have got my own apartment, having some time on my own, live by myself for a while. Nothing will change at school, and you guys are more than welcome to visit, but I need to readjust to this."
"I am sure that would be perfectly fine."

My family stands outside the house as I close my boot door. I turn smile slightly to my family. I hug Esme first, promising to come home soon, followed by Carlisle, Rose, Emmett, Edward and finally Alice. I reinforce the fact that I need this, and this is important to me. Esme sniffles slightly, and I hug her once again. Climbing into my car, I turn my key in the ignition, take a deep breathe and drive away.
"This is what I need," I whisper to myself.
