Chapter Sixteen

My hands drag across his skin and blood begins to seep out of his wounds. I smile devilishly at the human, whose name I didn't even know before leaning down and biting into his throat.

His blood streams down my throat and I moan as the flavour quenches my thirst but the taste soon changes. It begins to become sweeter.

I unlock my teeth from his throat to look back at my prey to see Jasper. His eyes are closed and his mouth open slightly, but there is no movement coming from his body.

"Jasper?" I whisper, touching his face but earning no response. My eyes begin to form venomous tears, that never fall. "Jasper wake up... please wake up baby... I'm so sorry."

I throw myself upright. I look around my room confused. I had closed my eyes and then had that dream... I know that it is impossible for vampires to sleep but how can I explain that.

It had been so real. So pure. The sick feeling in my stomach grows more intense as my thoughts continue to shift around the dream-like state I was in.

"What's wrong Isa?" Jasper asks, opening his eyes slightly.

"Nothing baby," I smile. "I thought I had homework to finish." The lie slips off my tongue easily. I don't know how I sort of slept, but I will find out. I lay down once more, and rest my head upon Jasper's chest. "I do love you."

"As I love you baby."

I look across the hall at the humans who are here to watch their child graduate. There are parents with large smiles and even some with tears rolling down their cheeks. My smile falters for a split second as I see Carlisle and Esme in the crowd watching. Vic and James couldn't make it because they would've turned the hall into a feast with their lack of control, but I pretended I was fine.

As the ceremony continues I find myself wishing I was with my biological parents. Wishing that they were here with me to watch me graduate. But the world is cruel. (I know they technically shouldn't be graduating but they have to for the story to progress so don't hate)

"Isabella Downes," the principal calls my name.

I stand and walk into the stage and with a huge smile I shake her hand accepting my certificate. Her hand is warm in my own and the vein in her neck shifts slightly with the blood being pumped through.

I feel the sudden urge to pull her close and drink from her neck until she is only a body without life, but I instead release her hand and walk away, whilst holding my breathe.

Jasper shoots me a worried look as I sit down, still holding my breathe in case I want to take a bite out of on of the blood sausages I sit around. I shake it off and send the feeling of 'I'm okay'.

Before long, the ceremony is over. We all stand and leave to our respected families, but I sit a little longer. Once everyone has moved away I stand too, and head over to the Cullen's

Esme throws me into her arms and congratulates me on graduating and I whisper a Thankyou. Carlisle wraps his arms around the two of us, telling me that I'll always be family. I close my eyes, and shrink into their arms, melting at their parently embrace towards one who isn't their own.

And in that moment, I wish I was human.

Once Jasper and I get back to my home, we are welcomed by an empty house. A note lies on the table reading 'Gone out for a hunt, be back soon.' I sigh and scrunch the note up, throwing it into the trash. Jasper and I begin to pack our bags, throwing whatever clothes we have inside them. Tomorrow is the big day, it is our 'end of school' trip.

We are travelling all over Europe to 'see the sights', but unfortunately our trip is not that Mundane. As much as we will be seeing the sights, we also will be tracking down clans of Witches and Werewolves, and whomever else will help us with our fight.

But for today, we celebrate the end of our school years. Tonight, the Cullen's are having a small get-together with their and our family to commemorate the end of this human experience. And we also be commemorating the beginning of our new lives, and whatever experiences that may be heading our way.

"Welcome, we are glad you could make it," Carlisle smiles as he opens the door.

"Thankyou for your invitation," Laurent smiles, and we all enter the house.

"We are so happy for you and Jasper and your graduation," Esme says, pulling us both into a quick hug.

"Thank you Esme," I smile. "I am looking forward to our new adventure together."

"Have you two planned anything as of yet?" Carlisle asks, as we all sit in the front living area.

"We haver planned a vacation through Europe starting tomorrow," Jasper wraps his arms around me whilst he speaks. "We are going to see the sights and live in the now."

"Well, we wish you all the best," Carlisle smiles.

"Thank you Carlisle," Jasper says before quickly making eye contact with me. "I have also made the decision that i will be leaving this family and join Victoria's clan."

A gasp sounds from Esme and Carlisle looks just as shocked as his wife. "If that is what you want to do, my son, I will support you."

"I just need to be focused on Isabella and our future." Jasper smiles.

"For she is all that matters."
