Facing the End

Ashley's POV:

After about another hour waiting in the hall way I saw the doctor that took Asa. He was walking down the hall putting his hands on his head. I ran up to him. "Is Asa dead? Please dont tell me he's dead!! What happened what did you do?" I asked the doctor. "Let me talk to you" the doctor said. I followed him into Asa's hospital room. I sat on the bed while the doctor sat on the chair. My heart was pounding. I was really afraid of what the doctor is about to tell me. "Asa is ok.." The doctor started. I had a huge smile on my face. "Then..what happened?" I asked him.

"His blood pressure was super high and his heart was acting up.. so we did heart surgery." He said. My jaw dropped. "Is he awake?? I need to talk to him?" I asked. "He is sleeping.. but he needs to stay here at the hospital for about 3 nights and then he can go home. You just have to promise me that you will take good care of him and call the hospital if anything happens." He said. "Yes of course doctor! I will help his mom take care of him." I continued. OMG HIS MOM!!! SHES PROBABLY FREAKING OUT! I HAVE TO CALL HER! The doctor shook my hand and walked out.

I didn't have Asa's moms number but I did see Asa's phone on the table next to his bed. I picked it up and searched for his mom. I found it! I called the number.. "Asa where have you been?" His mom asked. "Jake, this is Ashley, I'm at the hospital with Asa, Something happened and he needed heart surgery, if you could come here I'll tell you the story." His mom didn't even answer me she just Hung up the phone. I was sitting in the hospital room lonely for about 20 minutes until I saw Asa's mom walk in and came over to me and hugged me. I told her the story and she started crying. "Asa is ok, He is sleeping now, I haven't seen him since the surgery." I said. "Thank goodness" She said. "The doctor said that he will have to stay here for 3 nights and then go home and we have to take good care of him, Do you mind if I stay the night with him?" I asked his mom, scared to hear the answer. "Yes of course Ashley, I understand and thank you for being here with him. You know, he loves you very much." She said looking straight into my eyes. I smiled and said "I love him too." There was a awkward silence when all the sudden the nurses came into the room with Asa laying on the bed from the surgery room. He slid over from one bed to another. I quickly got up from the Hospital bed and just stood there with his mom looking at him. He was awake. He looked tired though. The nurses looked at both of us. ( Me and his mom ) and said "Take good care of him. we will be back in an hour to check on him." and they walked out. Asa was laying there, moaning in pain. I walked out of the room to let him and his mom talk.

Asa's mom POV:

I went over to Asa and grabbed his hand. "Ashley is going to stay with you for the 3 nights you're here while I'm at home watching the two little ones, is that ok?" I asked him. He opened his mouth. His voice was so soft and it seemed hard for him to talk. It's horrible seeing my son be in the hospital but there are many other kids in here too."Y-Yes, that's fine" Asa said. I gave him a kiss on the forehead and gently hugged him trying not to cause him anymore pain then walked out of the room and turned to Ashley. "You're turn. I'm leaving now. If you need anything, just call." and I walked away.

Ashley's POV:

I walked in there. I was super nervous. "Hey"

"Hey Ash". I went and sat on the edge of his bed. "You're looking pretty rough huh?" I asked. He laughed a little and said "yeah, Ashley can I tell you something?" he asked me. I had no idea what he was going to tell me. "Yeah! of course! Anything Ace!"

"I love you so much, thank you so much for being here for me." I smiled. "Of course, I love you too ace." I laid my head onto his shoulder. He couldn't put his arm around me cause it was hard for him to move. But I still just laid there. "I love you." He whispered. I just smiled. Eventually there was a silence, I knew that he was sleeping so I Gently got up and sat in the uncomfortable chair beside his bed. I'm gonna be in this hell hole for 3 nights, But I didn't mind. I had to do it for Asa. I took Asa's phone again and searched up his moms number and then took out my phone and copied her number into it. I texted her.

Me- "Hey, it's me Ashley. Since he has to stay here, do you mind calling school for us and telling them that we probably won't be there for about a week or two since he probably needs to recover at home for a while.

Asa's mom- yes of course. I'll do that right now. Thanks again.

I smiled and looked at Asa. He is so cute when he sleeps.
