hallways. long hallways that were empty and cold. one of the 40 things i was scared of. the worst was when the floors were shiny and the reflection of the flourecent lights abouve me shone down on the floor. it gave me the creeps and it made me feel uncomfertable. i was on the search for room 108

102

104 i was getting closer

106

closer

108...

science 10.

my feet stoped at the edge of the door, i didnt want to go in but i also didnt want to stay in this hallway alone, myhand made a fist as it slowly moved towards the door

knock...

knock....

knock...

"hello?"

a middle age man stood at the enterence of the classroom, he was tall and well built. he sort of looked like a model for some company that would put up their advertiesments onthe side of a bus because of his quifed brown hair and his blue eyes. his looks were almost intimidating and i could feel my shoulders slowly slump down and some how my eyes foind their way back to the floor.

"may i help you?"

i handed him my note, seeing as he took it and carefully read it over

"gem huh? well, come on in..."

i followed in his footsteps

"class, this is Gem, hes a new student, everyone take time out of there day to introduce yourselves and show him around"

he turned to me

"gem you can sit right here" he pointed towards a crooked desk right beside his

"so we can get caught up, were studying chemistry right now"

i nodded and sat down. i already knew i wouldnt be needing any help, i was great at chemistry and when i left my old school, we had just finished this unit but i wasnt going to say anything. i remembered my socail workors voice

"lets try to start off fresh ok?"

Thats exactly what i was trying to do here, start off fresh.

"so Gem what school are you from?"

i sat up, suddenly noticing the i was Gem, and my teacher was talking to me.

"uh, south point"

i said quietly. everyone knew that South Point was the poorest school in the distrect and that no one who had the choice to go, went.

he simply nodded though and continued on his work.

i glanced up to the board, searching for a name to indentify my teacher.

my eyes made their way to the corner of the board

"Mr Collins"

I looked back down at my paper, I was already done balancing the simple equations that laid before me. So I patiently waited for the bell to ring.

"So Gem why did you move across the state?"

I shrugged

"I dunno"

Mr Collins looked like he wanted to ask another question but stopped. I was glad, I'm not very good at talking to people.

"Can I see your sheet"

I passed it to him and watched as he

Looked it over

"This is very good, you didn't get one wrong!"

I forced a smile

"Thanks"

"So gem I'm going to be putting people in groups of two for our Lab assignments, and I think you would be perfect with Beth"

He pointed towards a girl sitting on the opposite side of the classroom.

You know in the movies were people's vision blur and their knees wobble and their hands get sweaty and stuff, well, that's what happened.

She was beautiful. Her long dirty blind hair fell loosely below her shoulders in loose curls. I could see from here she had green eyes and her loops looked so soft.

"Gem? That ok?"

I looked back at Mr Collins and nodded.

"That's fine"

The bell rang and everyone left the classroom in a hurry. I followed Beth for as long as I could before she joined a group of friends and disappeared in the pile if girls.

I walked down the hallways, I all could think about was kissing Beth, that's all I wanted now.
