Ethan's POV

We walk down 45th Street again, Arina on her heels and Alex acting as if a predator is watching her with hungry eyes. They are draped by dark fabrics that hide all their features and Liam made me wear sunglasses.

"Just stay behind me and whatever you do, don't show your face," He whispers to us as we travel down a barren neighborhood.

The houses where mildly ok, but the tension is not lessoning.

I don't respond to him and continue to walk behind him, Arina hot on my trail. I can't even see her eyes through the darkness and shadows of the cloak wrapped around her and it's creeping me out.

Alex looks as if she has a abnormally large humpback. Her wings are closed in together around her back area, making it seem as if she's old and the night makes her dark cloak look even creepier.

We walk towards Liam's house, turning to the left and entering his front yard. It isn't really a sight, not a pretty sight for that matter. But I don't think anyone expected it to be. It's mostly just dirt and rocks.

We walk up the steps and Liam enters with his key, looking around first to see if anyone has followed. Just like my grandmother had.

He closes the door and Arina slowly takes off her cloak, wincing slightly at her eye when she blinks.

I bite my lip lightly, feeling guilty. I know I shouldn't have ran off like that but we were getting no where with their bickering.

Arina shakes her curly hair, yawning and Alex takes off her cloak, sorely stretching her arms and Liam stares.

"You guys are extraordinary creatures," He mumbles and Arina doesn't so much as blush at the compliment, while Alex smiles.

"Why thank you! You are nice." She skips into the kitchen and begins to look around the new surroundings, tapping on all the metal and glass.

"That's weird. You don't have push open doors?" Alex questions and Liam smiles gently.

"No, I'm sorry about that."

Alex shrugs, waving him off. "Oh don't worry about it." She faces us. "You'll just have to do almost everything for me." She lifts her wing like arms with another shrug and Liam's smile turns forced and he turns to Arina who stands there, gingerly touching her eye.

"I can heal that for you..." Liam says and Arina glances at him.

"No. I like it."

Liam raises his eyebrows. "Do you?"

"Yeah. Proves that I'm tough."

"She really is!" Alex yells, her voice muffled by the bread in her mouth and Liam doesn't respond, turning to me.

"Well you guys can get comfortable... But I don't think Carter will be as smooth as I was."

I set my hands on my hips. "Uh... Smooth? Are you joking?"

Liam's smile is radiant and Arina makes her way to the small island, sitting down in the chair and throwing a piece of bread at Alex who nips at her.
