Stars shine bright illuminating the dark blanket across the sky. It's luminous star speckled beauty could not be expressed in mere words as Indie devoured in its beauty along with every bite from her triple scooped rainbow truffle.

She sighed in relaxation and happiness as she smiled up at the millions of shining diamonds high up. The constellations had always made her day as she admired them every night from the roof of her very home. Her mother would probably go mental over the knowledge of Indie climbing up the roof which is why she went out there so late.

It was her favourite place, her place to relax and spend alone. Her place to have her 'me' time and enjoy the silence of the swaying trees and the whistling wind. All around her the scene looked like it'd been plucked out of a postcard as small cottages like hers decorated either side of the small street littered with pretty autumn leaves. The shops lights were out and so were the street lamps. Birds nestled in their nests as light snores travelled to her ear making her muffle her amusement.

"What're you doing up there?" A voice beckoned her and startled her as she lost her balance and was now hanging of the edge of the roof.

"Oh my Merlin!"

"Terribly sorry but what were you doing..Up there"

Indie hobbled back up safely and sat down before looking carefully at the voice. Dressed in a casual beanie with dark trackpants and unruly bed hair stood a guy her age.

"Hey..I know you right?Ice cream boy"

"I go by Alice too but sure"

"Indie, pleasure to meet you too. Wanna join?" She offered stretching out her tub of ice cream.

"Shore thing " he said as he gracefully climbed up the roof using the tree, fell about three times before setting his bruised butt beside her.

"Okay I think you can stop laughing now. Don't want your parents to hear you do you?" That's when he realised he had crossed the line as the silence hung for more than a few minutes and Indies smile seemed to dim down and simmer out.

"Parent. My mom. I don't.. my da-.. no Mike. Mike left us"

"I'm so sorry." He frowned as he looked at her staring out at the horizon.

"It's okay..It's not your fault and it happened a few years back. We don't even miss him anymore. He's not part of our lives. Can we please not talk about it?

"..Oh yeah sure."

There were a few moments of pleasant silence neither of them minded before Alice spoke again. Well he sort of started of laughing at first bringing Indie to give him a curious look.

"I just find it funny that we've been in the same neighbourhood and school for the past what.. seven to eight years and this is the first time we meet. Just brilliant ain't it?"

"Yeah.. I mean I don't really mingle so"

There was silence again and again it was favoured by the duo.

"So..Why were you out Mr. Rebellious"

"I needed some time to clear my head"

"From ? I mean aren't you like the chocolate boy of the school.. what problems could you possibly have?"

"Trust me..They're more than you can handle. A lot of crazy stuff happened this week. Like for instance my phone  mysteriously disappeared one night"

"No kidding me too!!"

The conversation died down yet once more into peaceful silence before Indie yawned bade him goodbye as he climbed down and they parted their separate ways.

"Goodbye Mr Rebellious"

"See you later Mademoiselle Guacamole"

With that the duo parted with laughs and called it a night before heading in their separate directions.

Indie was in a sort of a trance as she trudged into her covers with a goofy grin across her face and a light blush brushing across her cheeks.

"Goodnight Mr. Perfect" she whispered before closing her eyes all the while not knowing that somewhere down the lane someone else was whispering similar words before shutting their eyes..

"Goodbye beautiful" Alice murmured as he happily shut his eyes inhaling the sweet fragrance of triple rainbow truffle and it wasn't even because he lived above an ice cream store.
