“Man that was awesome!” says Sam, reaching up for a highfive.

“Thanks Tom, that was awesome.” Praises Harry.

“It’s alright.”

“so how did you..?”

“lets not talk about it. Please?” I don’t want them talking about it incase mum and dad find out. It will inevitably be my fault.

“why did you tell him you didn’t have a girlfriend when you do?”

“I don’t want anyone knowing about her.”

“your friends do.”

“yeah but he doesn’t need to know. I don’t want him hurting her.”

“I don’t think Katy would be too happy about that.”

*Sams Point of View*

We sit in silence for most of the journey. Tom keeps catching my eye in the mirror and smiling slighty at me. Harry keeps looking at me too. It’s a weird atmosphere. It’s like we all want to talk but we wont.

All of a sudden we pull over.

Tom lifts his hand off the wheel and puts it on his head.

“Are you okay?” asks Harry, leaning forwards.

“I keep getting dizzy.”

“Is it because he hit you?”

“probably.” He replies, sighing.

“I’ll go in and get you some water, okay?”

“thanks man. And get some ice?”

“ice? Sure.” I say, unbuckling my seat.

He turns around in his seat and smiles at me.

“jesus tom!” I say, taken a back by his face. The part that didn’t show in the car mirror are black and blue and slightly swollen.

“is it that bad?” he asks, laughing slightly.

“nah, its alright. I’ll just uh… I’ll get some ice.” I say, running out of the car and back inside.

*Saras POV*

He giggles besides me, occasionally making unnecessary loud cruching noises as he eats a bowl of apple.  Cut into cubes may I add. According to him, it doesn’t taste nice any other way. We are watching ‘Arthur’ which Is apparently hilarious to an 8 year olds mind. To me its just a bunch of animals that worry too much school and all of the tiny, shitty things. I guess that what most children shows are like now though.

“Sara when do you think they’ll be home?” asks Paddy, still with his eyes fixed on the TV.

“I don’t know Paddy. They’ll be fine though, don’t worry.”

“I wasn’t.”

“I know you weren’t little man, I know.”

“Tom calls me little man.”

“does he? Well do you mind me calling you that?”

“well I’m not very little am i?”

“okay how about big man?”

“that makes me sound chubby.”

“lets stick with Paddy.”

He nods and puts another piece of apple in his mouth.

“I was fine with little man by the way.”

I just laugh and turn up the volume of the TV.

They’ll be fine. I just told Paddy that they would be fine. Why would Sam and Harry leave theit younger brother alone if they didn’t have any other choice?  Why did Tom look so scared when he left the house?
