Chapter 10I woke up on the couch in my 'room.' I sighed and sat up. Ash was not in the room. I missed his presence. It filled the cold emptiness of the room. For the firs time in a while, I hated being alone. I missed not being able to talk to someone, or just knowing in the back of your mind that they are there and you aren't alone. I missed Ash's warm smile, and his arms being wrapped around my waist. I missed cuddling with him on the couch. The nightmares are becoming a usual thing, they barley bother me any more, but not having him here to calm me down is tearing me apart.
But instead of sitting around sulking, I should be doing some thing usefull. I took inventory. "A couch, a lamp, a table, a book shelf, and some books." I mumbled to myself. "How usefull."
I picked up the book and curled up in the couch. I read for what seemed like hours on end. I chaptered the book and looked around.
'Never again will I complain to my mom that I am bored.' I promised to myself. A bitter thought flashed across my mind. 'If I ever get to see her again.' I cringed at the thought.
I fiddled with the table and opened the drawer. It wasn't empty, as I expected it to be. In it was an envelope.
In black felt marker it read "Dear Rachel, only open this in times of need."
'What was in it?' I wondered. But I didn't want to waste it. I placed the envelope back in the drawer and shut the drawer. I wondered over to the book shelf and tilted my head to read the spines. "Christopher Columbus and his Voyage to the Americas," "Neil Armstrong's Trip to the Moon," and "Mid Evil Times" were few of the many crammed into the bookshelf. I walked around in circles trying to entertain myself.
I heard the familiar click of the lock on the door. "Good, you're awake." Trip mumbled.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Tess would like to speak with you down stairs." He stated. Trip opened the door and I walked out. I followed Trip down the familiar hallways and into the familiar living room.
"Sit." Tess commanded.
I sat in a leather chair across from her.
"I assume you remember Luther from yesterday?" She asked.
I nodded. "Is he okay?"
"He is not dying, but no he is not 'okay,' as you put it. He is having trouble breathing. He had been moved to a hospital until further notice." Tess stated.
"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt him." I apologized.
"It is not your fault. Luther insisted to fight you. He knew his body could not handle exercise like thy. He was told the consequences if his actions." Tess finished.
I nodded. "But you mustn't fret over him. You're to begin your 6th test now." She told me and glanced at the door behind me.
I turned around and winced. The monstrosity that could be behind that door scared me. I didn't want to kill anybody, nor did I want to be chased by a dog.
I gulped and walked towards the door. I prepared myself and opened the door. In the room was a cannon like machine.
"Test 6: agility." The monotone voice echoed in the empty room.
The machine spewed out a blazing arrow at my chest and I ran out of the way. It spit out much more arrows directly at me as I dodged the last one. Another machine lifted up out of the floor and shot arrows at me as well. I ducked one arrow, only having to leap to the side to dodge another. I summersaulted across the floor and over to a wall. Another arrow flew at me and I ducked and ran to escape the next arrow.
One more cannon sprouted out of the floor like a flower from a garden. I felt overwhelmed from the 3 arrows being shot at me at once. I dodged as best as a could but one flaming arrow scorched my arm. I winced but I had to keep moving to avoid further damage.
I lied flat in the ground to escape an arrow but the next one aimed directly at the floor where I lay. I jumped up and out of the way just in time.
The cannons sunk back into the ground. "Test 6: complete." Said the monotone voice. I was out of breath and my muscles ached from the endless exercise. I lied down on the floor, thankful for the green gas that knocked me out.
