Chapter 14

[AN: thank you guys so much. I am so sorry I have been putting off updating for a long time. I have 900 reads and that is a lot. You guys are so amazing. And please comment. It gives me so much inspiration and motivation to update. This is my second time typing this up because my app crashed on me.]
Chapter 14
With a full satisfied stomach I strolled up stairs. "Rachel." I hear behind me. I turn and see Ash. He reaches his hand out to grab mine but it drops back down to his side.
"Are you okay?" I ask.
"Can we talk?" He asked.
"We are talking. What's wrong?" I say, preparing myself for bad news that is told very often.
"Alone, I mean." He asks.
I look around. "We are-" Ash grabs my hand and leads me up the stairs. His gentle tug guides me down the hall way and past my bedroom door.
He stops in front of a window and unlatches it.
"What are you-"
"Shhh." He silences me.
"But-"
"Hush." He swings the window wide open and reveals a shining full moon and sparkling stars. I stare at them in a trance, I almost don't realize what Ash is doing.
I look at him at see him perched on the window sill.
"Ash?!" I say.
"Shhh." He doesn't look back at me. He suddenly takes a step out the window.
"Ash!" I yell. I run to the window and peer out. I look down, afraid of what I'll find.
Ash is no where to be found. I feel a tap on my shoulder and look to see Ash balanced on a notch sticking out of the house. He raises a finger to his lips. He lowers it and climbs up to the top of the two floor building. He looks down a gestures at me to follow him.
I cautiously take a step out of the window and nearly miss the notch. I catch my balance and trace Ash's graceful steps to the top of the building.
Ash lends a hand to me and I grab it gratefully.
He pulls me onto the top of the roof. I sigh and lay down, gazing at the brilliant stars. I try to look for constellations but it is all unfamiliar. Ash lays next to me. "Look there." He raises his hand andy races out a line of stars. "That's Gemini."
I follow the line of the stars.
"Gemini represents her two brothers, Castor and Pullox. Pullox and Castor how ever had two different fathers. Pullox was the son of a god, immortal. Castor was a mere human who works in the stables. They had adventured for the Golden Fleece and fought in the Trojan war. They were heroes. Eventually Castor died, leaving his immortal brother on Earth. Pollux was ridden with sorrow and pleaded for Jupiter to allow the brothers to share his immortality. Jupiter, knowing of the heroic acts both of the boys have committed, reunited the brothers as a pair in the heavens."
"Wow. I didn't know that." I commented.
"Rachel?" Ash asked.
"Mhmm." I said, still gazing at the stars.
"When I die, will you create a constellation for me?" He asked.
I sat up and looked at him. Out of words I stood up. "What do you mean?"
"It's about what I needed to talk to you about." Ash said. He wouldn't meet my eyes.
"Ash. What is going on?" I looked at Ash. He wrung his hands and refused to look at me.
"In order for you to become intact with your powers fully to win the war, there must be a sacrifice. I-I am that sacrifice." Ash looked down at the ground.
"What are you talking about? I won't let that happen. Ash, no! Can't it be some one else?! Any one?!" I yelled at him.
"The prophecy mentioned that the one with blood of Eve and the skin of Jones just have his heart ripped out by the catalyst. My father is Jones, and my mother is Eve." He explained.
"Why can't Lisa do it?!" I said out raged. I clenched my fists.
"She's my half sister. My mother had cheated on my father. I am the only one who can do this."
"I AM NOT GOING TO KILL YOU ASH! I WONT! THIS ISNT FAIR! THIS WAR IS FAIR! WHY ME?! WHY YOU?! WHY ANY OF THIS?!" I sank to my knees and sobbed.
"Rachel, you have to do it. You have to kill me. If you don't do it then the whole world will get destroyed." He tried to reason with me.
"I don't care. I won't do it." I said.
"Rachel. You have to. If you do, maybe we can be joined in the heavens like Castor and Pullox."
"I don't want to be in the stars. I want to be here with you, looking at the stars."
Ash wrapped his arms around me. "I know." He whispered in my ear.
