Chapter 12I wake up to a pounding on the door. "Get up." Trip said and handed me a tray. "Eat up."
"You know, you're great with small talk." I stated sarcastically. "You know 'how's your morning going?' 'How's the food?' 'You like staying here?'"
Trip grunted but didn't look at me.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked.
Trip stared at the floor, and opened his mouth. I expected a long sob story, a story that will make you nearly cry and feel for him. But all I got was a measly: "Fine. Now finish your food."
I scooped the food up and shoveled it into my mouth, not trying to savor the cardboard flavor.
"I have noticed that there is mental and emotional, as two parts, why aren't the grouped together?" I asked him.
"Mental-intelligence wise. Emotional-feelings." He grunted.
I followed him downstairs and into the living room. I sank into the familiar couch and stared at the familiar wall. Then I realized that it was familiar, too familiar. I wasn't planning to stay here forever, I have my mom and my friends. How long have I been here anyways?
I felt my heart drop in my chest. Then a pinch of hope. I need to get out. I can get out. No, I will get out.
Lisa walked in with Ash at we side. "Mental testing." Lisa hummed. "My favorite."
"Mine too." Ash stated.
"Yay." I said unenthusiastically. "The upside to being here was missing school. Now I need to go in there for another week to take written test?! Ughhhh."
"Good luck." Lisa mused and shoed her brother out of the room. She smiled at me and followed Ash out of the living room.
I looked to the door and tried to delay whatever was waiting for me on the other side. I sighed and entered the white room. I looked around at the tiles, at the mirror. In the middle of the room was a desk. On the desk was a price of paper.
I sat down at the desk and read the top of the page. "Mythical creatures test."
"A test!" I exclaimed. "This isn't school!" I continued reading. 'You will have 30 minutes to answer as many questions as you can. You may begin.'
I flipped the page and read the first question. 'How do doggins trap and eat their prey?' The paper read.
There were 4 choices.
A)they spin their prey in a web and inject them with venom
B)they stalk their prey and attack with sharp claws
C) they catch their prey using their long tails and tear into their flesh with shape teeth
D)they are herbivoresI stared at the question stunned. How was I supposed to know this. I took a wild guess and circled letter a.
I read the next question. 'What is the Norinda's first line of defense?'
A) 4 strong arms used to crush
B) fire breathing
C) venom
D) a strong shellI guessed again and chose answer d.
The test seem to go on forever with creatures I had never heard of such as a-mi-kuks and abbadens, and quants. I had hopelessly failed the test. I actually wished for the green smoke to fill the room to relieve me of this torture, and when it did, I couldn't have been more grateful.
((A.n: sorry for the short chapter. I know that the updates haven't been very often. I'll try to keep up with the updates. Writers block is very hard to shake.))
