A/N: Okay so I am very VERY aware of all the issues this story holds, so please bare with it for those who read it. This is my first story I have ever completed, so that probably explains. This is just a little warning to those who decide to continue reading.
But thank you to whoever reads and votes. It means a whole lot to me :)

"Juliet!" Grandma called from downstairs. I'm still surprised by the power in her voice at such an age. I got up form my bed and walked down to find my grandma holding a rectangled box.
"I got you something." I can tell she's excited just by looking at her smile. I follow her into the kitchen and she places it down on the table. I open up the box and it reveals a grey colored laptop.
"Do you like it?" She asks. "I figured you need one for school and all." I look down at the laptop and I'm filled with guilt. She is completely oblivious to the fact that I don't go to school anymore. It's been almost a week now that I have dropped classes. I was only taking 2 courses, but I just couldn't do it.
"Uh, yeah, it's...nice."
"Take it up to your room." I thank her and walk up to my room. I sigh when I sit down on my bed. I don't deserve this at all.
My phone rings and it's a text from Matt.
*Matt: come over. I'm having a little get together plus some goodies.*
Grabbing my cigarettes from my cabinet and shoving my phone into my pocket, I make way out of my room.
"Where are you going? Have you tested out the laptop?" Grandma asks when I reach the door.
"Um no. I'm going to the library to check out some books I might use for class." I slowly turn the knob, making sure it does't look like i'm rushing to leave.
"Okay, just be safe out there." I nod and exit the house.
The heat of the sun burns my skin and sweat is quick to form on my forehead. Covering the sun with my hand, I look up at the sun. No single cloud in the sky. Of course this is expected in stupid California.
Once arriving at Matt's house, two dudes stand by the porch almost as if on guard, watching who comes in and out. Their stares are harsh as they look at me from head to toe. I slow my speed as I walk up the few set of stairs. The larger guy blows out smoke right as I pass him by. I make sure they see my eye roll as I walk. I smile when I hear them chuckle.
I'm barely getting through the door when Matt appears. "Hey babe." I roll my eyes again at his endearment. He's quick to put his arms around me.
"Matt, stop. I didn't come here for this." I push his hands away, making distance between us. I've rejected him countless of times, yet he still doesn't get it. What we had ended months ago.
"So that's the kind of treatment I get in my own house, huh?" He crosses his arms, attempting to look serious. But I can barely see a smile on his face. He's all jokes. "Come on, i've been waiting for you."
We walk to his glass coffee table and lines of white powder sit on the top. The music gets louder once we both sit on the ground. Ignoring all the people around me, I grab the small straw and began to sniff.
Sniff after sniff after sniff. What my life has become. I barely got introduced to this. I always denied trying it in fear that it'll mess me up, but I realized I was already messed up. And so, here I am, getting high with people I don't know.
--
Instead of heading to the front door, I make my way to the back. Seeing that it's midnight, all the doors are locked. I hop onto the garbage can and jump over the wooded fence.
