NIALLS POV

I began skyping with Juliet. Her grandma was a really sweet lady and her cookies were great. Juliet was eating some and I began to get hungry.

There was a moment when I asked her how she was and she responded with ‘fine.’ Something about that answer didn’t convince me. I felt like if she was lying. I hadn’t seen her a lot but every time I did, the strong feeling that she hid something grew.

It was so easy to see in her eyes. Something was going on. Maybe her grandma didn’t see it or her friends but I did. I wanted to find out what it was.

            “Knock, knock,” Liam came in.

“What’s up?” I turned myself around.

“Just bored in my room. What are you doing?”

“Just finished talking to Juliet.” Liam grinned as soon as I finished that sentence. I knew it was coming.

“Look at you. Talking to a girl.”

I smiled and said, “It’s crazy, I will admit, but just something pulls me towards her. As cheesy as that sounds.” Liam laughed teasingly.

“Thanks for your support,” I said jokingly. He stopped laughing and said, “I’m not making fun of you. It’s just that it is pretty cheesy but if you like her, cool.”

            “Thanks.”

“Let’s go grab something to eat. I’m hungry.”

“Yeah, I’ll meet you in your room.” And Liam walked out.

I closed my laptop and sat there, thinking. The moment I met Juliet came back to mind. I remember she was crying. She was running, running away, but from what? She seemed startled, nervous, and sad. A bundle of emotions.

I couldn’t believe I actually said something. If I were to see another stranger in that fragile state, I probably wouldn’t have done anything.

I got out of my thoughts and headed towards Liams room.

I texted Juliet if she wanted to come by the hotel and chill by the pool. I wanted to talk to her more, get to know her.

I knew it was going to take a bit more insisting so I called her. I even called her house number to talk to her grandma. Call me desperate, but I just wanted to have a good time with her.

She hesitated, but she said yes. I even invited her grandma but she said she was fine. I felt a bit guilty since she said she wasn’t feeling well, but I thought that by getting distracted, it would all go away.

 JULIETS POV

He would think I’m a slut. He would think I’m stupid, irresponsible, and good-for-nothing. Then that urge came again and I was sticking my head down the toilet. I rinsed my mouth and looked at myself.

I was mad, mad with everything.

Later that day, I got a call from Niall. I didn’t want to pick up but I did.

                “Hi..Niall.”

“Hey Juliet. How are you?”

“Fine, you?” He paused and I knew he was thinking.

“Are you sure? You don’t sound okay.” I closed my eyes and tears filled my eyes. “No I’m not okay, Niall,” I said in my mind.

“Juliet?” he spoke.

“Um, I’m just feeling a bit sick.”

“Oh,” he said that in a disappointed way. “Might it be the flu?” he continued.

“Maybe. Was there something you wanted to ask?”

“Yeah, but it’s fine. You’re not feeling well.”

“What was it?”

“Well I have a day off tomorrow and I was wondering if you’d like to come around and just hang by the pool.”
