NIALLS POV

My arms were wrapped around her. One second she was still and the next I felt her arms around me. She put her face against my shoulder. She hugged me tightly. Almost as if she didn’t want to let go.

I began to feel pain myself. I wanted to cry. You know that feeling you get in your throat when you don’t want to let out tears.

 She let go of me.

“Umm, yeah. Well you can go now,” she said as she walked over to the door. I was shocked. After this just happened, she lets it go like that. Was she not seeing that I wanted to make her feel better? She tried not to look at me straight in the eyes.

                “Juliet, I’m not done here.”

“Well there really isn’t much to say, anyways.” She still stood by the door.

“Yes there is. What’s wrong? I just want to know why you were crying.”

She smiled and said, “It’s nothing. Really. I was just having a bad day.”

“Your day must’ve been really, really bad for you to be crying like that.”

            “Maybe it was.”

“Look, can we go somewhere and talk maybe? I’m free for tonight.”

She laughed a bit and said, “We really don’t need to talk. I’m fine. If I need something, I’ll let you know. Besides I really want to finish my soup and get some sleep.”

As much as she tried to hide away all that happened, I still wasn’t convinced. I could tell she was holding back those tears.

“But I—” she cut me off.

“No Niall. The night ends here. Go home or to your hotel, whatever. I’m okay.”

She put her hand out towards the doorway. I knew she wasn’t going to say anymore.

“Okay. I’ll leave.” I walked to the doorway and stopped to look at her. “If you need anything, you know how to reach me.” And I left the room. She closed the door behind me and down the stairs I went. I heard the door close.

I found Zayn and Juliets grandma sitting at the kitchen table. They seemed to be really into the conversation. I cleared my throat.

“Niall! How’d it go? What did she tell you?” Juliets grandma said as she got up.

“She’s doing fine. She feels better.”

“Thank you so much for coming. You know, Juliet doesn’t have many people in her life. She needs people like you. She needs that good influence around her. Especially after her mom died and oh god, so many things.”

“Well don’t worry. I’m trying my best to get to her but she’s very stubborn.”

“Oh yes, the most stubborn of them all. Just like her mom.” She froze and it seemed like she went into a flashback. She walked to the table and sat down. I was sure that flashback was about Juliet’s mom.

“I’m sorry boys.” She cleared her throat.

“Don’t worry. No need to apologize,” Zayn said.

“If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call.” I added.

We said goodbye and out the door we went.

“Did it really go the way you told Juliet’s grandma?” Zayn asked.

I sighed and said, “No.”

“Why didn’t you tell her how it really went?”

I didn’t tell Juliet’s grandma my concerns. I was sure she didn’t know that much about why Juliet was in those states. I wanted to gain Juliet’s trust and by me telling her grandma would mess it all up. It would become a worry to her grandma, as well.

I was disappointed with how it turned out. I was hoping that I could’ve reached out to Juliet enough to know what was wrong. I was leaving to New York tomorrow and I was left with all these questions.

I got to the hotel and the boys noticed the look on my face. I headed straight to bed but stayed up for a bit, thinking.

A smile faded onto my face at the thought of Juliet being so stubborn.

I turned to my side and knew I had to focus on one direction for these next few days.

*the next morning*

Looked at my phone and it read 3am. I did not want to wake up but I had the lads shoving on me as I hid under the covers. I slowly made my way to the showers and got dressed.

The plane was leaving at 5:30 to be in NY by at least by 9.

We got to LAX and there were a few fans waiting to say goodbye. We got to give them just a wave and smile since we were running late already.

As we were on the plane, Zayn shoved me and said, "Hey look at this." I began reading the article about Juliet and I. So many assumptions were made but the one that they were all sure about was that I was dating her.

I didn't take it a shock because that's what tabloids do all the time but I was a bit upset. People could be real sneaky and I didn't want Juliet getting into all this especially with the emotions she had.

I was really hoping that this would all die down.

--

Landed in NY and off to the hotel we were. We got out through a secured place so we avoided the paps and, unfortunately, the fans. According to security, the fans were about to take down the place.

When we got to the hotel, the real mobbing began. Paps everywhere! the same questions repeated and repeated. "Niall, who are you dating?"

"Who's this girl?"

"What's her name?"

"Are you in love?"

I knew then that this definitely would not die down.
