My eyes keep wondering towards the back of the restaurant. My heart is beating at a fast beat and I want nothing more than to run back to the kitchen. Juliet was so surprised to see me, as I was too. It was way different seeing her in a different environment. She looked less distraught, but her eyes still spelled out a touch of sadness. And her hair was pulled back. She didn't have it down to shield herself.
Harry begins waving a hand towards me to catch my attention.
"How do you know that girl?"
"She's the one I was telling you about. The one that left out running. To think I was never going to see her again."
"Exactly what I told ya."
If I go back there right now, she could get in trouble. That's the least thing I want. I need to ask Mr. Goodall when her shift ends. He must know. Although, he doesn't seem like the nicest guy..especially the way he looked at her.
A very nervous waiter, named Oscar, approaches the table and shakily pours water into our glasses. After taking out order, he asks, "Anything else?"
"No," Harry says.
"Actually, yes." He smiles at me. "There's a girl working in the back...her name is Juliet." He nods. I continue, "Do you happen to know when her shift ends?"
"No, but I can find out for you?"
"That would be cool. Thanks, man." And with that he leaves.
"You're crazy..you know that right?" Harry says.
"Hey, I just want to talk to her. No harm in that." Besides, the chances of seeing her again were extremely low. Seeing her tonight, when I least expected, is a sign. I am not going to just ignore her and let it be. Plus, I have her phone...it's broken, but it's a good excuse to see her again.
Oscar comes back, gives me the information and brings us our drinks. Juliet's shift ends at 10 and I take a look at my watch. An hour till then. I'm willing to wait in here or outside until then. I want to make sure she's okay.
After slowly eating my food, I look at my watch. 20 minutes until ten.
"Does she know about the band?" Harry sets down his knife and sits back on his chair.
"I don't know. I didn't tell her anything about it, but maybe she does."
"You're intrigued by here, aren't ya?" I only shrug my shoulders. There's that look in her eyes that I want to decipher. I want to unwrap it and see what hides behind them.
"Excuse me, can I get a picture?" I take this opportunity to kill the 18 minutes left. A little chit chat with the mother of the fan and a picture has the time ticking ten.
"Okay, it'll be quick. I'll be back," I say to Harry as I get up. He only nods and waves his hand. For some reason I'm nervous. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's because I don't know how she'll react seeing me again today..especially after running out.
Oscar smiles at me and says, "She's in the break room. I'll take you."
"No need to. Is it through that hall?" I say, pointing to a hall at the end of the room. He nods and I walk towards it.
"Mr. Horan, can I help you with something?" Mr. Goodall is shocked to see me back here and immediately changes his demeanor. I want to laugh, but I decide against it.
"No, everything is good. I just want to talk to a person that works here." He raises a brow. "Nothing bad...she's a friend of mine. She's in the break room. Is it okay if I go in?"
"Of course, of course." He begins to lead the way, but I bring him to a halt. Having him around will only make her go quiet. He's the boss.
"It's okay, Mr. Goodall. Oscar let me know where it's at. Thank you." He gestures his hand outwards and I continue my way.
Turning the hall, the door to the first room is opened, and inside is Juliet with a guy standing right in front of her.
