I seem to run a million miles an hour. The wind rushes through my hair. I laugh, then choke on a bug that flew in my mouth. I keep running still. I run as if my life depends on it. Ahead the white ribbon flops in the wind, clearly not pulled by the first place winner yet. I speed up and strike the ribbon with so much force that the ribbon and I seem one, but only for a moment. The crowd screams as two people run up to hug me. One is woman that is beautiful on the inside and out with wavy dark brown hair. The other is a man with peppered-hair that is grinning from ear to ear.

"We are so proud of you sweetie!" My mom exclaims as the crowd screams even louder. The screaming echoes in my ears and it no longer sounds motivating. The shrill screaming gives me a headache and I huddle up into the fetal position right there on the sandy ground. When I look up with tears in my eyes from all the pain, my mom and dad start to disappear. I jump up and try to grab them. My hand goes straight through my mom's body. She swirls into dust in the wind. My dad smiles at me again and reaches out as he fades into the background.

"Don't leave me!" I call to them. But it's too late.
