I walk down the aisles of Wal-Mart with Sierra. Not many things have expired since it has only been about a year, basically only the dairy products.
Sierra picks up a bag of Cheetos and pops it open.
"Being one -crunch- of the la -crunch- st people on Earth -crunch- really -crunch- make -crunch- s you -crunch crunch- wonder, doesn't it." Sierra says across the store.
I hear her crumpling up the bag in the silent place. I grab the one cart that can't stop squeaking and go down the aisle. Sound really echoes when there are only two people in the store.
Sierra runs up to me clutching as much cereal as she can hold. She catches her breath and I panic for a second as I remember my parents doing that a month before they died. I thought nothing of it then but now I can't help but over exaggerate a bit.
"It's fine Frankie! I haven't gone into a coughing fit have I?" She says while she pats my back. I am reassured that there is no way she could have The Trojan stage two without stage 1 first.
Sierra and I grab a few more things and start to walk straight through the check out to the front door. As there is nobody working at Wal-Mart anymore and money means nothing, we walk to the door.
"Hello!" A dirty blonde guy says as he jumps out from behind the register. "Where do you think you are going? Aren't you going to pay for that?" His blue eyes twitch as he yells at us and steps in front of the door.
"Come on, Zach, again?" Sierra says playfully and attempts to push Zach away between laughs.
"We don't need to pay for anything anymore because there is no point." I state and help my friend.
They both stare at me then burst out laughing.
"You're under arrest!" Zach says. He holds out a roll of Pringles and tries to tazer us with it.
I squeeze past him and grab Sierra and the cart.
"I don't even understand why someone that childish is allowed to live. The ones who should live are the people who understand the seriousness of the situation." I say as Sierra and I sneak past him.
"I think it's good to have some fun in our life, Frankie. You know that you life longer if you laugh!" She states.
"Yea, but he is just annoying." I think out loud while looking at the trees with intensity. They are still alive. Why couldn't I just be a tree? I wouldn't have to deal with anyone, no pain, no loss, I could just live in front of the beautiful, bright sun.
"Whatever you think.." Sierra states as we walk out of Wal-Mart, ignoring the beeping of our "stolen merchandise" (we still haven't figured out how to stop it).
