Meghan P.O.V.
We were running along the bridge when I turned around to look back at Race, who was getting tired and slowed down.

"Meg! Look out!" He called.

I didn't understand until-

"Oomf!"

"Youse betta say ya sorry!"
"Huh?"
"Youse know who ya talkin ta?"
"Oh my..." I bow down to the one and only King Of Brooklyn.
"Ise very sorry... uh...sir"
"Yeah, youse betta be.

Racetrack comes over.
"Heya Spotty!"
"Hey its Racetrack!"

They both shake hands. (Not spit shake, but shake hands.)

"Meg, this is Spot Conlon, King O' Brooklyn. Youse don't gotta be afraid o' the looks o' 'im. Go ahead....be yaself." Race introduces me to Spot.

"Heya doll face." He smirks and winks at me.
"Dontcha dare calls me dat name again, youse got?"

"Woah, deep accent for a goil. Me likey-"
"No Spot, she's mine." Race wraps his arm around my shoulder.

"Nah, she rather be wit de King, not some lousy lil shrimp like youse."

"Shut up Conlon. C'mon Race let's go." I start to drag Race away from Spot and I hear Spot say,
"Imma get me some Meghan." And then laugh.

"Dats it!"

I turn around and give 'im a nice shiner.

"Goddammit! She throws a pretty good shina! Fo' a goil."

Honestly, I prefer being treated like an equal, but when the boys say things inappropriate, I rather be seen and stop talking about it but no, they keep on babbling on and on. But when somebody judges my fighting skills. They should be running.

Race held me back and dragged me, literally, to Sheepshead Races. When we got there I was out of energy from trying to get passed Race to beat up that kid.

"Okay, wese are within a mile range of Spot."
"Aww"
"Shut up Meg. Ise know youse like him."

"What now?!?!"

"Yeah, youse do."

"No, Ise like someone else thank youse."

"Ohh drama! Tell!"

"No Race!"

"Why not, Ise your best friend!"

"Ise know Race!"

"Obviously youse don't cause youse not tellin me!"

"Ise can't okay?!?!" I started running back to 'hatten, frustrated. I wouldn't show any sign of weakness.

When I got to the lodging house I turned around to see Race still chasing me.

I ran upstairs and locked myself in the washroom. I tried washing away my tears that I didn't realize come out, but they kept on pouring.

Race P.O.V.

Of course, to top my day, we ran inta Spot. Well, Meg ran inta Spot. She gave him a shiner and I had ta drag 'er ta Sheepshead meself before she could beat 'im up more.

Ise was jokin wit 'er sayin dat she liked Spot. Then she flipped and ran home. Ise knew I wouldn't be able ta watch da races so Ise ran behind 'er. I ran inside and saw Mush. I dragged 'im to the roof.

"Heya Race, what's up?" Mush asks.

"Okay, so Ise went ta Sheepshead wit Meg and she ran inta Spot. She gave 'im a pretty good shiner! Ise dragged 'er ta da races. Ise was jokin wit de whole 'she like Spot' thing. She ran home wit out me. I followed 'er though."

"Big mistake, man."

"Whatcha mean?" I asked confused.

"She obviously likes you! Can youse get any dumma?"

"Ise sorry dat me names not Mush and Ise am not de one people come ta ta get love advice!"

"Still, it's obvious. Meg can't hide anythin' for 'er life."

"So what does dat mean?" I still don't get it.

"She likes you!"

"Yes, Ise know dat."

"No, she got a crush on youse!"

"Oh."
