Meg P.O.V.

Mitch woke up yesterday morning and surrendered. It was snowing and below 32 degrees, so nobody wanted to tell the other burrows. We decided to bring the Bronx to our lodging house, because they would be closer to their circulation center.

"Heya Meg, thanks for lettin' us stay." Mitch says. I nod to him, "Anytime. Iz a pleasure ta have youse." I walk over to Muddy, "What's ya estimate?" He smiles, "Um... Ise guessin dat it won't rain till four?" "Thanks Muddy."

That will give us enough time to make it to 'hattan and Queens. Ill send Jack to go get Battery, and those otha towns. As long as they don't tell LI, the plan would go smoothly.

Once at 'hattan, I storm into the Lodging House. "Hey! Hey! Fellas! Big time!" "Heya meg!" "Whatcha doin hea Meg?" "Long time no see right pal?" They all ask me questions. "Youse won't believe what great news Ise got!" I sit down on my old bunk. "Mitch is on our side now!" Everyone remains silent. "Aaandd, Dunn, the LI leadah? We's know more bou 'im dan he knows bou himself! Right Mitch?" I wrap my arm around his shoulder. "Ha, uh, yeah." Everyone starts to celebrate. I walk downstairs with Jack and start to tell him where he'll go." Mitch follows us, "Um Meg, can Ise talk ta youse?" I nod, "Ise gonna talk ta him Jacky-boy. See ya later." I turn to Mitch, "Lez go on da roof and talk. Nobody will hea us dere."

I close the door behind us and sit down on a crate. "What's da matta?" I ask him. He hesitates, "I-Ise neva told youse what r-really happened right?" I light up my cigar. "No. No, but ya don't gotta tell me." "No, Ise gotta." I lean forward, "Did he hoit youse?" He gulps and mumbles, "Howdya think he's got me ta agree wit 'im? He didn't say 'Hey wese gonna start a burrow war and take ova all da otha burrows ya in?' and then mese sayin 'yes' no didya?" My eyes widened, "So he did hoit ya." I stand up. "Now wese gotta make sure we win this, and beat his puny ass real good!"

Mitch stands up, "Dats not exactly what Ise was gonna say." I sit back down, "Spit it out Mitch." He takes a deep breath, "He was plannin' on takin ova ev'ry burrow and town in New Yawk, make it his own. Eva since de strike he's been wantin ta get back at New Yawk City. Cause he wanted to start the strike himself." I nod my head. "So where ya goin at Mitch?" I ask him. "He still thinks that Ise a part of his team, so youse cant let ya friends tell ANYONE ya hea? Cause when Dunn gets a hold o' dis information- "Ya gonna be taken away from us and beaten even worse." I finish. He nods.

"Okay, then lemme tell da Newsies." I walk back inside, with Mitch at my heels. "ATTENTION!!" i scream. I roll my eyes when nobody listens to me and I whistle loudly. Everyone's attention turns to me, "Before youse go and tell ev'ryone, youse gotta promise ta be on lookout an' make sure dat no otha Newsie hears youse when ya tell 'em. If LI hears bou dis... it won't be pretty." I look at Mitch, "Ya hea dat?" I ask. "Wese got it Meg!" "Yeah!" "Tell us what ta do Meg!" "Meg wese listenin!" I look down at Mitch, "So, what should Ise say?" He looks around at everyone.

"Dunn has ta respect dat wese are da woikin newsboys of New Yawk." he tells me. I repeat it louder, "DUNN AND LI THEY THINK WESE NUTHIN, ARE WESE NUTHIN?" "No!" Les yells. David covers his mouth, "Youse gotta stop startin' these things!" Jack laughs and slaps Dave on the back.

"LI AND DUNN THEY THINK THEY GOT US, DO THEY GOT US?" "No!" "Keep speakin Meg!" "EVEN THOUGH WE AINT GOT LICENSES OR BADGES, WESE ARE ALLIES JUS BY SAYIN SOOOOO" "AND THEY WILL KNOW!"

"DAMN RIGHT THEY'LL KNOW! SO LEZ GET TO IT!" I scream. "Let's send a message ta da big boys!" "Yeah! Send 'em a message!" "WESE GOTTA SHOW 'EM DAT WESE ARE TOUGHER AND SMARTER-"

"-AND SNEAKIER!" I look down at Mitch, "Sorry" he mumbles. I look at him, "And how did youse become da Bronx's leadah?" He shrugs.

"WESE GOTTA START LISTENIN TA MY GOOD PAL MITCH HEA AND WESE GOTTA STAY SMART AND STAY STRONG!" Jack yells. "HEY YOUSE HAD YA MOMENT! LET MEG GET A TURN!" They start to argue.

"HEY!" Mitch yells, "DIS IS JUS WHAT DUNN WANTS TA SEE! DAT WESE NEW YORKERS WIT NO BRAINS AND NO RESPECT FOR NOTHIN! INCLUDIN' OURSELVES!"

"Davey! They'se stealin me lines!" I roll my eyes, "Go and cry me a river Cowboy. Betta yet, go and cry ta Davey. Ise surprised he still listens ta ya when youse whinin!"

"Hey!" Dave speaks up, "Ise don't listen ta him!" "Shut up Davey!" I glare at him.

"PEOPLE!!!!!" Mitch screeches, "WESE GOTTA ACT LIKE WESE LIKE EACH OTHA!! CAN WESE NOT ACT LIKE BABIES?!?!" "Jack's da one dats de baby! Not Les, but Jack!" "ENOUGH!!" Mitch screams. "DO WESE ALL KNOW WHERE WESE GOIN?" He asks. They shake their heads. It took us a good half hour to assign everyone to where they are supposed to go, and soon enough, we are out onto the streets, separated into groups, lettin da otha towns and burrows know what's goin on and where we shall stand. At the top.
