Chapter 9: Breakdowns and Revealing

September 1st

"Riley, have you thought about what I told you?" Farkle said.

"I did. I don't know how to do it though. I mean I really like Lucas but Maya is my best friend. I don't want one of them to get hurt or worse both of them," Riley said.

"I know that Riley but you can't keep Lucas waiting forever," Farkle said. 

"I know, Farkle. I just need help to make sure that they won't be awkward and be like they were before they even started dating," Riley said.

"Smackle, Zay and I will help," Farkle said," All you had to do was ask y'know." 

"I guess I didn't think about that. I guess I was to caught up with making sure with how I was going to do it I guess I never thought that I didn't think that I could have asked for help from all of my other friends," Riley said looking down as she shut her locker. 

"Riley, you know we are always a call away whenever you need us," Farkle said. 

"I do know that, Farkle, I guess I didn't connect the dots this time and I am sorry," Riley replied.

"It is okay, Riley," Farkle said, "Sometimes you are to focused on one situation you can't focus on anything else."

"Hey, guys," Lucas said, "Have you finally decided to tell Maya the whole secret that none of us know about?"

"No, I will tell all of you when I am ready,' Riley said walking to social studies. 

"Riley, why don't you trust us?" Lucas said.

"Lucas, it isn't that. It is not that I don't trust any of you guys. I would trust you guys with my life," Riley said.

"Do you not like me?" Lucas said.

"Of course not. I really like you, Lucas," Riley said.

"Then what is it?" Lucas asked.

"I don't know," Riley said with tears in her eyes, "I don't know why I am not going to say yes to you."

"Riley," Lucas said reaching out to her before she ran out.

"What was that about?" Maya asked.

"I don't know," Farkle said.

"I am going to go talk to her," Lucas said exiting the group.

"Lucas, are you sure?" Maya asked.

"I am sure, Maya," Lucas said,"Thank you."

Riley was sitting in the bay window with her phone open to her DM's with Holly. She couldn't stop reading a certain DM that she had gotten sent from Holly.

"Hey, cuz. So I broke up with Charlie because Lucas is hot. If you dare decide to date him then I will tell Maya everything about you and Lucas," Riley read with tears in her eyes.

"Hey, Riley," Lucas said breaking the silence," What are you reading?"

"Here," Riley said quietly.

"Hey, cuz," Lucas read out loud, "So I broke up with Charlie because Lucas is hot. If you dare decide to date him the I will tell Maya everything about you and Lucas. Is this why?"

Riley was sitting on her bed crying.

"Riley?" Lucas said. Lucas got up and went and sat next to Riley. 

"Riley, explain what Holly is talking about," Lucas said grabbing Riley's chin.

"Holly, has been threatening me saying that we kissed while you two were together," Riley said in between sniffles," I don't want Maya to know that you cheated on you." 

"Riley," Lucas said pulling Riley close to his chest.

"What am I supposed to do, Lucas?" Riley said.

"Maybe this is when we tell Maya the truth," Lucas said.

"I don't want to hurt Maya though," Riley said.

"I don't want to either but would it better if we were just upfront with her and didn't hide it from her anymore," Lucas said. 

"Then we didn't have that weight on out shoulders," Riley said looking into Lucas' green eyes.

"Is it bad that I want to kiss you right now," Lucas said. 

"I don't think so," Riley said. Lucas looked at Riley's lips before grabbing Riley's face and kissing her. It was soft and sweet. They pulled off and they were both smiling.

"I really like you, Riley," Lucas said.

"Lucas, are we going to tell Maya or not?" Riley asked.

"We are," Lucas said.

"Hey, guys," Farkle said climbing into the window with Maya.

"Maya," Riley said,"There was one day when you and Lucas were still dating where it was just Lucas and I. We, um, kissed. I don't even know what got to us but we are so sorry." 

"Yeah, we decided that it was time to tell you," Lucas said.

"Does this have to do with why you won't say yes to Lucas?" Maya said.

"Yes, there is one of my cousins that I talk to since she knows how to get through drama and boys. She met Lucas and she broke up with her boyfriend because she wanted to date Lucas. I didn't want to date Lucas since I didn't want you to find out about the kiss that happened between Lucas and I. I guess that was when we decided that was when that was the time that we came out and told you that we kissed. We couldn't have kept it from you forever so," Riley answered with a big smile.

"Riley, I am not mad at you guys. I would have rather had you two tell me about what happened instead of finding out from rumors or your cousin," Maya said smiling," I forgive you." 

"Thank you, Maya," Riley said.

"Riley, would you like to be my girlfriend?" Lucas said grabbing Riley's hand.

Riley looked at Maya and Farkle before saying," I would love to be your girlfriend."

This is probably my favorite story I have ever written and there are so many stories that I have written. I hope you guys liked it and I can't wait for the sequel.
