Chapter 4: Cousins and Confessions

August 22nd

"So, who is this Lucas dude," Holly asked while Riley and Holly were sitting at the bay window.

"He will be here in a few minutes. Then you can meet him," Riley answered.

"Okay, let me get this straight. He has been dating Maya for two years and you two kissed while you were hanging out at the park alone?" Holly asked.

"Correct, and Maya has no idea and we have no idea how to tell her," Riley answered.

"Hey guys," Lucas said crawling in through the window.

"Wait, it that okay with your parents?" Holly asked pointing towards the window.

"Yeah, Farkle, Maya, Lucas, Zay and Smackle do it all the time," Riley answered. 

"So you are Lucas?" Holly said smiling.

"Yes I am ma'am," Lucas said shaking Holly's hand. 

"Hmm, a gentleman," Holly said bumping Riley. Riley bumped Holly back while blushing.

"Anyways, so you are here to talk to us and give us advice," Lucas asked.

"Yeah," Holly said," So who do you like more, Maya or Riley?"

"They are both important to me. They are both there for me but lately it seems like Maya is always busy with Lord knows what and Riley is always there to talk to no matter what," Lucas says looking at Riley.

"So you really have no idea?" Holly said.

"Well, I don't know. I never wanted too hurt Maya's and Riley's friendship but I am worried I just did," Lucas said.

"Maya, we need to figure this out," Farkle says while Maya is pacing around Farkle's room. Zay, Josh, Farkle, Maya and Smackle were all in Farkle's room helping Maya figure out what to do with the whole Lucas Josh situation.

"Maya, I am truly sorry about causing this," Josh said," I should have never kissed you."

"It isn't that, Josh. I might still have feelings for you." Maya said looking into his eyes. 

"Maya, who do you like?" Smackle said.

"I don't know and I ma not even sure if it is Lucas. I am so confused right now. I am dating Lucas but I might like Riley's uncle," Maya said. 

" Maya, if you don't like Lucas that is fine but I don't know how Lucas will react to finding out you cheated on him with Riley's uncle," Zay said . 

"I know, Zay but I don't know what to do!" Maya said.

"Maya are you okay?" Farkle said.

"I am fine," Maya said.

"Have you had different feelings towards Maya ever since the kiss happened?" Holly asked.

"Well whenever she calls me babe or sweetie, I don't get this spark in my heart that I would. I always get this warmth in my heart whenever Riley laughs or smile," Lucas said.

"So you don't like Maya anymore?" Holly asked.

"Huh I don't like Maya anymore," Lucas said," I like Riley, I always have but I guess I never realized it." 

"Woah," Holly said," Big confession right there."

"So you know you like Lucas," Zay said.

"I don't know, Zay. I don't know who I like," Maya said.

"How do you not know who you like, Maya?" Farkle asked angry.

"Honey, why are you so mad? Farkle, we are all confused about this. Maya might not like Lucas, Maya kissed Josh. Science isn't the answer to everything," Smackle said grabbing Farkle's hand," All I know is that no matter what happens I always want you guys by my side. I have been sure of that since day one of high school and I don't know how to process all of this information either but we will all get through it - together." They all looked around at each other with a sigh of relief filled the room.

"I know that, too. Ever since I moved here it has always been the core four, Riley Matthews, Maya Hart, Lucas Friar and Farkle Minkus. They stick together and if you are going to let one mistake tear you guys apart the you guys aren't the core four anymore," Zay said. 

"They are right, Maya. We can't have this happen to us. We can't let one mistake tear our friendship apart," Farkle said looking into Maya's eyes," We all stick together."

"Okay, thanks guys. We get through ninth grade together we can get through tenth and the rest of our lives," Maya said.

"Why can't you break up with Maya?" Holly asked. 

"Because if I do and then go out with Riley then that could hurt Maya and when I started dating Maya I made a vow that I wouldn't hurt their friendship at all. When I moved here in seventh grade they were the first friendship that I noticed. They always stood next to each other and I never wanted to stop seeing a friendship like that," Lucas said. 

"Well we are screwed," Holly said.

"But I know that there is one thing for sure," Lucas said. 

"What?" Riley and Holly said at the same time. Lucas sat by Riley. He grabbed her by the face and kissed her without thinking first. 

"All I know is that I want to date you," Lucas said looking into Riley's eyes," Riley will you be my secret and let me date you?" 

"Yes," Riley said.

"It is like I am watching a Hallmark movie,"' Holly said wiping tears away from her eyes.

"Stop it, H," Riley said.

Tbh, it is kinda weird to be writing a fanfic in which Lucas and Maya are dating but I don't ship Lucaya at all extent.

Anyways hope you all liked this chapter!! Took a little but but I liked writing this and all the Rucas scenes.
