Chapter 2: Texts and Talk

August 15th

It has been two days since the kiss and Lucas was heading over to the Matthews residence to talk to Riley about all of this. Lucas hasn't said anything but Riley asked her cousin, Holly, for advice. Holly had red hair and chocolate brown eyes. When Lucas got to Riley's apartment of course Cory, her father, was there to welcome Riley's guest inside the apartment.

"Oh, Lucas. What a wonderful surprise," Cory said looking back at Topanga.

"Hello, Mr. Matthews, Mrs. Matthews. May I speak to Riley? I really need to talk to her," Lucas asked.

"Sure, she is in her room," Mr. Matthews said with a smile. (Yeah, he was not smiling on the inside lol -TF) Lucas walked to Riley's room and opened the door.

"Hey, Lucas. I wasn't expecting to see you here at all," Riley said looking up from her phone.

"Yeah, I really needed to talk to you," Lucas said sweetly. 

"What did you want to talk about?" Riley said as Lucas and Riley went and sat down at the bay window.

"I wanted to talk to you about the kiss," Lucas replied, "I can't stop thinking about it. It was so memorable and I never got that feeling with Maya. I felt fireworks when it happened and even though it was accidental, that has never happened with Maya. Riley what is happening?"

"I don't know!! Why are you asking me?" Riley asked Lucas while looking into his sparkling green eyes. 

"Because I was hoping you would relate to the feeling. I guess I was wrong," Lucas said getting up.

"Wait up, Lucas. I have been thinking about you nonstop ever since you dropped me off at my apartment the other day. I loved it. The way it felt like time stopped. Nothing could replace that feeling. I actually do understand that feeling completely. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings, Lucas" she replied as she grabbed his hands. He placed his free hand on her cheek and looked at her.

"It is okay Riley," Lucas said. He pulled her into a hug and they went and sat at the bay window.

"So let's clarify something we both really liked it and we both can't stop thinking about each other since it happened. But I can't break up with Maya for you because that could really hurt Maya and your relationship and I don't want to hurt that. I promised that when I started dating Maya that I wouldn't hurt our guy's friendship but I am worried I just did," Lucas said. Riley looked at Lucas sweetly and placed her head on his shoulder while grabbing his hand.

"I promise that you did not ruin our friendship as long as she doesn't find out about the kiss," she said. 

"Okay," Lucas said, "Can I sit and talk with you for a little while longer? I could really use some advice from my best friend."

"Sure take all the time you need. That is the point of the bay window isn't it?" Riley said as Lucas chuckled.

Maya was over at Zay's house hanging out when Josh Matthews walked in. 

"Who is that?" Maya asked.

"Oh that is Josh. Don't you remember Josh? Josh is Riley's uncle. You had a huge crush on him in 7th grade but when you started dating Lucas you lost feelings for him? You seriously don't remember?" Zay asked. 

"Oh Josh. Hey," Maya said. Zay looked over at May as she was getting sparkles in her eyes. 

"Hey Josh, did you hear that Maya and Lucas have been dating for a whole two years?" Zay asked as Maya hit him in the gut. 

"Oh yeah, that is really nice Maya, You look gorgeous," Josh said as he sat down next to Zay.

"Thanks Josh. How is college treating you?" Maya asked.

"Fine fine, my roommate has gotten better than he was last year," Josh answered.

"Well I see how this is going so Imma go and I don't know kill time and act like nothing awkward is going on down here. Okay? Okay," Zay interrupted as he got up and left.

"Well that was dramatic," Josh said.

"That is typical Zay for you," Maya said. 

"So if you are dating Lucas then why are you hanging out with Zay?" Josh asked. 

"I was texting Lucas earlier and he said he had to talk to Riley about something. He wouldn't say what it was but I really hope he isn't cheating on me. I know Riley would never so that but they way they looked at each other before we started dating. I trust them both completely don't get me wrong but I have a suspicion they both still like each other," Maya explained. 

"Have you and Lucas kissed?" Josh asked randomly. Maya looked at him in confusion and then answered the question.

"No, I haven't had my first kiss yet why?" Maya answered.

"Oh maybe because I am in college and I haven't either," Josh said.

"Oh I am sor-" Maya started but she was cut off by the lips of Josh on hers. Josh pulled off and looked into Maya's eyes. 

"That might be what I wanted to do," Josh said. Maya looked at him and smiled. 

"Thanks for my first kiss, Josh," Maya said. As Josh wrapped his arm around Maya, she heard her phone ding.

"Who would want to text me?" Maya asked," Oh Zay." 

*Text Messages*

Zay :) Maya why did you let Josh kiss you?!? You know Lucas is my best friend and I can't believe you cheated on him with Riley's uncle!!

Maya: I have no idea what you are talking about Zay.

Zay :) Don't act all sweet and innocent. I saw the kiss.

Zay :) See

There was a picture of Josh and Maya kissing.

Maya: If you dare send that to Lucas you will regret it.

Zay :) What can you do to me?

Maya: I am Maya Penelope Hart. Don't underestimate my shortness for a lack of rebellious.

*End of Text Messages*

"Anyways I probably should go," Josh said, "Zay's parents probably want some help upstairs and you probably want to hang out with Zay. See ya, Maya."

"See ya, Josh, "Maya said waving goodbye.

"You must be out of you mind, Maya," Zay exclaimed when he walked into the room.

"You better not tell anyone about this," Maya said looking sternly at Zay," I need some time to think about it okay?" (I am pulling a Girl Meets Texas Part 3 Riley move on all of y"all.) 

"He is going to find out sooner or later so would you rather have him find out from someone else or have you tell him? Just something to think about. You probably should get home and think about this," Zay said.

"Okay, I will text you once I make a decision," Maya said walking out," See you soon, Zay."

"See you too, Maya," Zay said as Maya walked out of the basement," Good luck."

I actually really enjoyed writing this chapter. I got over 1000 words which actually makes me so happy because I usually don't!! Do you guys like it so far??
