Chapter 3: School and Secrets

August 20th

It has been a week since Riley and Lucas kissed and about five days since Maya and Josh kissed. I was the first day of school for Riley, Lucas, Maya, Farkle, Zay and Smackle. It was their sophomore year and they were ready. 

"So how was all of your guy's summers?" Farkle asked as they all sat over in the quad.

"Mine was fine. I spent a lot of time with it at mom's restaurant. It is summer, it's hot, nobody wants to go outside but you have no idea how many people came to Topanga's place daily," Riley said. She was sitting by Maya and Lucas while Farkle and Smackle were sitting on the ground. Zay was sitting by Lucas.

"Yeah, I know, Riles. I was there with you," Maya said. 

"Oh yeah," Riley said.

"So babe, how was your summer," Maya said shoving Lucas playfully. 

"Oh it was fine. I spent a lot of time in Texas with Zay. My mom let me go see my dad," Lucas said smiling," Anyways."

"Yeah," Riley said.

It was during lunch and they sat outside because it was still really nice outside.

"I am so uncomfortable," Lucas whispered to Riley.

"I am sorry?" Riley whispered back. Lucas then got out his phone and started texting Riley.

*Text Messages*

Lucas: I want you to be the one who calls me babe and steals my sweatshirt but I don't want to break Maya's heart.

Riley: Same. I want your lips on mine again but Maya is my best friend and I don't want to hurt her. I would feel horrible. Why is love so confusing!?

*End of text messages*

"So Riley, Lucas you have been very quiet what is on your mind?" Farkle asked.

"Nothing, I swear," Riley said looking sternly into Farkle's eyes. 

"Okay, Riley," Farkle said. Maya was looking down and Zay noticed.

"Hey Farkle remember in eighth grade after we all get back from Texas and you dragged Riley out of Topanga's because you knew something that we didn't?" Zay asked.

"Yeah why?" Farkle replied. 

"Oh because I want it to do it to Maya," Zay said as he got up and walked inside. 

"Umm, okay," Farkle said. 

"Why do you think that I ha-"Maya said right before Farkle drug her inside.

"Why did I have to do that?" Farkle asked.

"Because the other day I was over at Zay's house and Josh came over. Zay went upstairs and I kissed him. I don't know why but it felt right. I felt like it was meant to be. Josh be my first kiss," Maya said.

"No, you can't cheat on Lucas. Do you think you might still have feelings for Josh?" Farkle asked shocked.

"I don't know maybe. He had this sparkle in his eyes that I can't get my mind off of. Even when I am with Lucas," Maya said.

"So," Lucas said.

"Yeah," Riley said.

"So why are you two all of a sudden so awkward," Smackle said while drinking her Snapple.

"Well, stuff happened over the summer," Lucas said.

"Wait like what kind of stuff?"Smackle said.

"Lip touching other lips," Riley said shrugging.

"You two kissed!! What will happen if Maya finds out?" Smackle said shocked.

"How are we supposed too know?" Lucas said.

"Only you two know about it?" Smackle asked.

"Well, I was DMing my cousin about it because she always helps me. She is coming with her family this weekend to talk to me about it and to meet Lucas," Riley said," Her name is Holly Matthews. She lives in Austin, Texas." Lucas looked at Riley and smiled.

"Holly Matthews," he said," Can't wait to meet her."

"So all we know is that Josh and Maya kissed, Maya might have feelings for Josh and not Lucas and we have no clue how Lucas will react when he finds out," Zay said.

"Yep pretty much sums everything up," Maya replied. She was sitting on a chair with her face to the ground.

"How do we know that Josh is good for you?" Farkle said.

"Farkle, can we please not talk about if Josh is good for me right now. I kissed a nineteen year old and I am only sixteen," Maya said," I like Josh but I stole Lucas away from Riley even though she liked him."

"So what are you two going to do? Like Riley you helped Lucas cheat on your best friend, you are the one who kissed him right," Smackle said. 

"Don't remind me, Smackle. I already feel so bad about it," Riley said. Lucas looked into Riley's eyes.

"Riley, it is going to be okay. I promise," (Omg I can totally see Lucas doing this!! MJ seriously make this scene happen!!) Lucas said reassuringly.

Then Maya, Farkle and Zay walked back outside. 

"So did you all have a nice conversation?" Farkle said sitting by Smackle.

"Yeah, it was fine," Riley said as Maya sat down next to Lucas.

Hey y'all i know it took me awhile to post Chapter 3 but It could have been worse.
