SADIE HAWKINS PT. 2

     Okay so since I got way off track in the last chapter, I decided to just divide the chapters into two parts.

     So -- Sadie Hawkins dances. They're awkward. Dances in general are awkward.

     I go to a Christian school. We don't have dances -- heck -- our prom isn't even a prom. It's a banquet with an afterparty. (I've already decided to crash my bff's school's prom).

     You can imagine the schock when we discovered that there would be a Sadie Hawkins Valentine's Day dance in three weeks time. While it's not a school-related function, some student's parents are throwing it -- AT THE COUNTRY CLUB. I REPEAT. A DANCE AT THE FREAKING COUNTRY CLUB. I'LL NEVER GET USED TO PRIVATE SCHOOL PRIVILEGE.

     This raised chaos withiin school walls. Who would the girls be asking? This was undoubtedly the most important night of OUR LiVeS!!!11!!!!!!!1!!!!!

     Every girl in my class told me I should ask this guy who I had a crush on in the beginning of the year, but not anymore. But I had to step back. There was no one at the school who I wanted to go with -- no one from any other school either!

     This is where the advice portion of this rant comes in.

     I've been struggling allot lately with feeling somewhat broken. I'm a young girl -- I should be crushing on guys and dating them and going on outings with my friends and actually participate in school functions. Plus, every guy I thought I had a crush on in the last year has taken a sour turn, so it must be me. What's wrong with me? Am I too picky? Should I just settle for less?

     NOOOOOOOOOO. THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO MY CHILDREN. LISTEN HERE.

     GIRLS. YOU DO NOT NEED A BOY TO MAKE YOU FEEL RIGHT IN THE WORLD. HIGH SCHOOL IS ALL ABOUT FINDING YOURSELF AND DECIDING WHERE AND WHO YOU WANT TO BE. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DATE OR GO TO PARTIES THEN THAT IS MORE THAN OKAY. FOCUS ON YOU. LOVE YOURSELF UNCONDITIONALLY.

     SO IF YOU ARE EVER FACED WITH A SITUATION WHERE YOU NEED A DATE TO A DANCE BUT YOU DON'T LIKE THE DATING SCENE, GO WITH TWO OF YOUR BEST FRIENDS. GET FANCY FOR NO ONE BUT YOURSELF. LAUGH IN THE CORNER WITH SAID BEST FRIENDS. THROW SOME SHADE. DO YOUR MAKEUP A LITTLE FUNKIER HAN YOU USUALLY DO. WEAR JEANS IF YOU WANT IDC. JUST DON'T FEEL OBLIGED TO STEP FARTHER OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE THAN YOU LIKE TO.

     AND DON'T LET ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD FOR NOT TAKING A DATE. IT'S 2017, PEOPLE, GET WITH IT.

     AND ONE LAST NOTE: HOWEVER SCARY IT MAY BE FOR THAT PERSON, IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU TO DANCE AND YOU DON'T WANT TO -- YOU DON'T OWE NO ONE NOTHING.

     SO DRESS HOWEVER YOU WANT. GO WITH WHOMEVER YOU WANT. HAVE FUN AND EAT LOTSA FOOD AND DANCE WITH WHO YOU WANT BC THIS IS UR NIGHT AND LIFE IS GREAT.
