"Would you let me lead you even when you're blind? In the darkness? In the middle of the night? In the silence? When there's no one by your side? Would you call in the name of love?"

It felt weird to be home all day instead of working. I decided going outside would be more fun. I grabbed my shoes and wallet and yelled a goodbye to Gertrude.

It was a warm spring day, just in the middle of April. You could definitely tell I was pregnant at this point. I thought I should go shopping for more fitting clothing.

The mall wasn't too far so I jumped into my car for that 15 minute drive. The drive was silent, except for the background music of the radio.

The mall was quiet for a Monday, probably because all the teens and kids should be in school and adults at work. I unconsciously rubbed my swollen tummy as I was walking towards the maternity store.

I strode into the store and looked around for someone that worked there. A young woman with a name tag was going through some clothing so I went up and tapped her shoulder.

"Um, do you work here?" I was still very awkward when I spoke to people I didn't know. The girl, whose name tag read Sarah, smiled at me. She seemed to be my age.

"Yes, I do. Do you need any help?" Her brown eyes sparkled in delight.

"Well, this is my first time and I have no idea what I'm doing. Can you please help me find some fitting clothing?" I fiddled with my sleeve and looked down.

"Sure. Trust me, I've been in your position, no need to be nervous." Sarah gave me a strong smile and laughed a little. I gave her a small smile in return, my uneasiness ebbing away.

She showed me a variety of different shirts and dresses. When she asked me my preferences, I laughed and said anything black. Sarah's eyes widened in delight and showed me all the darker clothing that would fit me.

Finally, I bought some nice shirts and gave Sarah my number. I told her I'd like to spend more time with her after her shifts. Sarah gave me a wide smile and nodded her head fiercely.

With a wave, I exited the store. Just outside of it, my phone went off.

"Hey Kate, wanna go out to lunch? I'm on my lunch break." The text message from Ethan read. With a smile I asked him where and headed straight for my car.

When Ethan said he wanted to head to a local café, my smile grew larger; I had been craving something sweet as of late. The café wasn't too far from the mall, that made a quick drive for me.

When I got to the place, I could already see Ethan sitting next to a window. I was extremely excited to show him one of my new shirts, which I had put on in the mall. The shirt was black and on the stomach there were two hearts, one blue and one pink. My hair was out and curled and I was wearing dark jeans; for one of the first times ever, I felt truly beautiful.

"How many?" Asked a teenage hostess. I smiled at her and told her someone is already waiting for me. I walked over to the corner window booth and grinned at Ethan as he looked up from the menu.

"Hey Honey, is that a new shirt?" He stood up and kissed me. I then sat down next to him and held his hand.

"Yes, it is. Do you like it?"

"I do, I like it very much." I then started going on about my trip to the maternity and how I made a new friend.

"How's it been at the office?" I asked.

"It's been going well, looking for a new secretary. This one guy applied and I'm pretty sure he's an ace in the hole." It relieved me slightly knowing it was a boy going for the job.

"Well, then I hope things go well for you and him. It's been so boring at home. I wish we had a dog or something to play with me." I sighed, thinking about how boring it will be at home.

We finally got our food and ate with slight conversation. Ethan would sometimes crack a stupid pun and I would groan while holding back a giggle.

But, our lunch had to come to an end at some point. I stood and gave Ethan a peck on the cheek.

"What time should I expect you home tonight?" I asked.

"I'll be home around eight, maybe? Sometime around then." He smiled at me. Saying our goodbyes, Ethan walked me over to my car and then went to his. I missed him.

Forgetting my small sorrows, I decided to plug my phone into the aux chord underneath my car radio. I put on a playlist full of my favorite songs.

The music was still in my head when I walked into the house and I just felt excited, inspired. Yelling a hello to Gertrude, I ran up to my bedroom and grabbed a sketch pad. I started to make the outline of a child's onesie. It was more oriented toward a boy because of its design. On the front there was a tie shape going down from the neck. The back in scribbled writing said "Business Boy."

I held the sketch in front of me and smiled. I imagined the base color to be a pastel blue with a dark purple tie and black writing. I definitely had to go to the store and start on it soon.

But then, I was tired. Lightly, I placed the sheet back onto the desk and stretched. Slowly and lethargically, I trudged toward my bed and fell on my side.

~X~

I awoke later on when the once bright sky was then a hot orange. A blanket covered me and a message on my bedside table said that Gertrude had done that then went home. I would have to thank her.

Considering the time of day, I decided it was a good time to make dinner. I wanted to make something simple, so I thought ravioli with butter would be good. While I was making the food, I made sure to make an extra serving in case Ethan hadn't eaten before coming home.

I sat down at the table and shouted "this sucks," to no one in particular; no one else was there. I played some music while I ate to entertain the babies, though they probably wouldn't even notice. They were so small...

I finished eating around eight. Just as I put my plate in the dish washer, I heard the door creak open.

"Hey Honey, I'm home," Ethan's voice called. A smile brightened my face.

"Ethan! Finally, I've been so lonely here all day." I walked through the living room doorway with my head dipped back and my eyes closed. When my face was forward and my eyes opened, I saw the most adorable thing.

Ethan was holding a sleeping golden retriever pup. I squealed silently and rushed over to him.

"Oh my God, Ethan! Where did you find this little thing?" I pet the puppy's head and it's eyes opened. It stared at me then licked my finger.

"My friend's dog had a liter not too long ago and she was old enough to leave, so here she is." Well, at least I knew the gender.

"Can I name her?"

"Yes, yes you can," Ethan said. I took the small dog into my arms and thought.

"I wanna name her Blossom since we got her in spring." I set Blossom down and she sniffed about.

"If it's Blossom you want, Blossom it is." Ethan came up from behind and hugged me gently. His hands rubbed against my ever growing stomach softly.

Letting go, Ethan grabbed stuff from his car. A dog bed, dog food, some toys, and a couple packages of wee wee pads. Blossom licked lightly at my ankles then circled me slowly, as if examining me. Then she stood and put her front paws on my leg gently.

I picked Blossom back up and she tapped lightly at my stomach.

We were already starting our beautiful family.

I am sooooo sorry I haven't been able to update in so long. I'm in my school musical which is taking up all my free time. I'm going to try and write chapters as soon as I can.
